My first grow since the move

Hello,

Just created an account here so I can track my progress. I’ve been growing for a few years but took a break when we moved from PA to Virginia. My buddy from PA sent me some seeds called Jabbas Stash. Well I’m a little late starting this journal but better late than never. So here is where I’m at:

Week 4-5 of flowering.

Basics: Strain - Jabbas Stash - by bodhi my friend Costanza sent them to me (he’s a member here)
Medium: coco / perilite mix (1 gallon pot)
Nutes: Crop Salt (mixed as directed - first recommended amount)
I just added some flower fuel to the reservoir to help fatten out the buds.
Light - AC Infinity AC-120-265v. (2x4) LUX 40-47k
Temp 75-80
Humidity 70%
I have an AC infinity set up with controller so it keeps the humidity and lights running smooth.
I also set up an automatic watering system, originally got it so my wife wouldn’t kill them when I went on a trip, but now it’s just super convenient.

This run I did a little different since I was using reg seeds, not feminized or autos. (Not a fan of autoflowers) I germinated 8 seeds. 5 of them made it to plants and of those five they were ALL female. I should have played the lottery. I ran a very short veg period 2-3 week from germination I switched to 12/12. The thought was to created more little plants instead of 2-3 larger ones. I also did not top the plants, which I feel was a mistake. I am gonna definitely top them and train them next time. But we live and learn. There will always be a next grow. Well here are so photos of my girls. Let me know your thoughts. I

Hey there, welcome to the forum, I like what you have going on in your tent. Just to be clear, I think your friend might have just done a seed line project to create more seeds of an existing variety, Jabba’s Stash is from Bodhi Seeds; if not he should maybe rename the variety. Jabbas Stash - Bodhi Seeds

Anyway that is not particularly important. Good on getting a drip set up going, it does make life way easier and can be a great tool for truly dialing in your garden. One of the best things about drip irrigation is that we can provide our plants more precise amounts of water and nutrient. A cool means of doing this is by providing smaller volume waterings done more frequently. This may actually go a long way to helping you improve your results.

I personally like not topping my plants, one less stressor for them to have to recover from and it can cut some time off of veg. So I wouldn’t by default assume topping and training will give you better yields; not to mention some plants just don’t respond well to topping and can even try and make one of the lower branches dominant. So I would be more inclined to try using the drip irrigation to drive your growth a bit more.

I also would recommend using a drip ring of some kind rather than individual stakes, it just makes less mess in the tent and can provide better water distribution in the pots.

Thanks for sharing your grow with the community, looking forward to seeing how you finish out.

Welcome to the OG!

Come hang out if you’d like. There’s a good many awesome folks hanging out over here.

Grow looks really good!

I didn’t read the bit about your grow this time before replying. My current grow I did the same. 6 untrained plants in small pots. I’m not unhappy with the results though. I tucked leaves and a couple of them are going to do pretty well for solos.

Welcome to OG @UndergroundHydro !

You’re in the right place my friend and with a friend like @Costanza you’ve got a really solid grower in your corner!

And definitely check out the thread @Gadarien linked, there are quite a few of you VA folks floating around :love_you_gesture:. Again, welcome my friend!

Welcome aboard my friend, just to clarify I didn’t breed those Jabba stash that was just a seed reproduction, that strain was bred by my favorite breeder Bodhi

Hell yeah, I love seeing Bodhi’s older work being kept around. Did you work the line in any particular direction or did you do an open pollination?

I selected the bubba leaners. most common pheno I’ve found in the f2s has been a gassy chocolate coffee mixture

Very nice. Its funny, but I never thought I would miss Bubba as much as I do, so its good to see some around.

honestly it was the first time I reproduced anything and I should’ve done an open pollination but I was a rookie and wasn’t thinking ahead. I guess ya live and ya learn

Well, the genes are still in there to get some more variation, so just go looking for some outliers when you pop the beans and make some seed with those. Not quite as good as an open pollination from your original stock, but it should bring some of that variation back.

But personally I am glad you leaned into the Bubba side. I miss having real kush type varieties around. I didn’t appreciate them when they were flooding the Cali market 2 decades ago, and now I wish I could go back to that moment in time and stock up.

They are really filling in nicely. I gotta look at the calendar and check some dates but I shouldnt be more that a couple weeks out. I’ll pull out jewelers loop soon

It’s cool to see the different phenos of the strains. Of you look the two on the right, the center, and the two on the left are all different. They have different leaves and they smell different.

Welcome UndergroundHydro - I have to ask. When you moved did your grow setup remain the same, or did you end up with an upgrade?

We moved a few years ago and I went from a 6.6 ft x 5 ft x 4 ft tent to a smurf tent of 3 ft, with that said I have to do LST and SC to keep things under 2.5 ft tall.

And the 5 gal buckets are a blast to bring in…
