Ok, I live in S/W Ohio, 12 plants max, Can any one recommend a hearty outdoor strain, space between plants on center, I am looking to have as little interaction as possible. Like everyone i would like the best of both worlds, High Yield, and high THC. What i can invest in are Soils, Nutrients, Seeds. im starting late but ready.
Plenty of time to get started! I plant in ground and for plants not to touch i would need 10ft spacing. Work up some holes of soil as big as you can. Add some manure, bone meal, kelp meal, neem meal and some peat for conditioning. Success lies in the pest management outdoors. Wettable sulfur spray during vegetation or growing phase for bugs and septoria/ mildew. During flower you will need a couple sprays of BT for budworms and hope for a dry flowering time. GL !
Deleted because not my place to say.
If you add crushed Two row Malted Barley and Some decent Earthworm castings with your dry amendments to your soil i use Dr Earth Pure gold Veg Fertilizer In the Green and white bag you will shit your pants when you see what that stuff does. The Mycillium is unreal and it excellerates your flower time up to 25 percent according to Clackamus Coot i can finish 70 day varieties in my short window here in western ny almost tunes them down to 55 day plants .I use it in my outdoor run
every year
You should probably be looking for varieties with good mold resistance if you’re growing outdoors in Ohio. High THC and high yield are fine and all but it does no good if those dense, high yielding flowers are full of mold due to high humidity and late season rains. Also, remember what you put in is what you get out, so if you want as little interaction as possible you need to put in a lot of good prep work. Are you planning to plant in the ground or in pots? You say you’re starting late but you’re actually about on time for Ohio. I wouldn’t be putting young plants outside until after frost possibilities are past and thats typically early to mid May.
Grow some Ohio Lemon G!!!
They specifically want high yield and high THC. That is not lemon g. Lemon g is fantastic and a good one for outside but its typically more light, airy flowers and more moderate THC levels.
i’d be very careful and not let anyone know anything about grwoing. your state is about to repeal said “legalization” and when they do, they’re gonna have a field day with everyone who thought it was really legal. just an fyi tip. stay anonymous and out of trouble.
Is high yield and high THC even achievable? My experience it’s one or the other.
Thank you, everyone.
I hope i answer everything
1: Soil. No pots
2: Soil mix?? Bagged?? Where?? Brand??
3: Nutrients?? Bottles?? Brand??
4: Strain?? Brand??
Thank you again!!
I was a member of operation overgrow in the late 90’s user name Snerd.
I never expected this much feedback!
Now with everything considered, I havent purchased anything…
I’m open to all logical and sensible ideas.
Id prefer to have the soil dropped in the drive way so i can portion properly.
id like to be marking everything in my back yard and any or all prep work i can do this week and next.
Just with this feed back has me stoked…
thank you thank you thank you
Thank you, let me start with the soil is there a set portion per plant, and would there be a one stop shop as in a nursery or home depot Lowes etc…
do you know of a nursery that would premix or better yet premix bags you would recommend.
This for me in all honesty will hopefully be a “Set it and forget it” deal but with that being said ive grown twice and it turned out as you’d think…stringy…poop weed.
but no matter how much i tried vouldnt leave those plants alone without just wanting to look, show off, touch. so i know i wont be leaving them for dead but i work Heavy Highway, and just work to much and thats what i mean when i say as least amount of interaction.
Dry ammendments? is there an premix or bagged soil mix you recommend?
And my back yard faces West but at the bottom of a 20 ft hill then flattens out “grow site” for approximately 25ft. by 75ft. which is backed up to a 9ft chain link fence which id like the privatize a little better with maybe an erosion barrier, keep out prying eyes, i will be topping and scrogging to keep at least level with the fence
Im using this stuff at the moment Purple Cow Indicanja and its not too shabby This Blueberry Muffin and these Bubbas was grown exclusively with it to see what it did i was happy with the results really happy plants i dont even ph my water with this stuff just like what the bag says add water and thats it
.Its a smidge Hot but its not too bad.I would not
start seedlings in it but its good for transplants and repots.
Nice man I’ve used that before too a couple years ago and they actually have a separate seedling variation but overall good quality soil. Reminds me of coasts of Maine Stonington blend
You could use one or two bags per plant and 1/2 native soil with the other ammendments recommended. Hopefully that helps with hole size ( maybe 2x2x2 ). Dr. Earth makes a good nutrient to mix in a cup or 2 for each hole, or a standard vegetable fertilizer like a 10-10-10 (1/4 cup). I like a bit of bone meal as well. Plant in the absolute sunniest place you can find. Morning sun is preferred to help dry off your plants early in the day. It helps prevent water staying around and causing mildew etc.
Hashpants obviously does some good outdoor work in what I expect to be a high humidity climate so I would value his opinion. To me, I wouldn’t be so worried about bringing in “soil” to grow in the ground. In SW Ohio you most likely have clay soils that will hold water like a bowl if you just add a bunch of soil in a hole. My recommendation would be adding compost to your existing soil. I would start by tarping off my garden area with a black plastic tarp to kill off the existing grass or weeds. I would let that sit for several weeks, then pull it off and add compost in rows where you expect to grow. 30" to 36" wide beds is my ideal. Till that compost in. I personally would then add 2" or so or compost on top of that to form raised beds. You could use an organic, granular ferilizer like Dr Earth, KIS Organics nutrient mix, or Neversink Blend. I highly recommend getting a soil test done first so you know exactly what you need to add. However, once your beds are established, and fertilizer added, I’d run 2 rows drip line on your beds for even, simple watering. Cover those beds with black plastic landscape fabric, then just cut or burn holes in the spots where you plan to plant into. As they grow you can supplement with liquid nutrients if deficiencies arise.
Its almost exactly like Coast of maine Stonington blend.I seen that seedling mix ive been using Black Magic plain soil.
Kali Bubba would be a good strain to look into. If you can find seeds. They get pretty big outdoors but are manageable. Nice yield too.
