This is reminding me I need to get my well tested again soon…
LOL. Ok, so as I was trimming up the outside girls yesterday, a storm rolled in, forcing me inside rather quickly. I thought I had trimmed all the girls and hung em on my dryer rack.
Well, taking a whiz this morning, looking out the bathroom window, what do I see on the deck railing? Oh, only a 4ft branch with a few oz’s of nug on it, forgotten outside. Just brought it in the kitchen, looks like I have one more branch to wash and trim to hang…
Whats it say when you can miss a 4ft branch, that most of your friends would drool to have? ROFL. Don’t you sare say “you have too much bud” ROFL
Bonus buds! Gifts from the gods of ganja, give thanks right. No such thing as too much herb, just herb you haven’t shared with your friends yet
I was wondering that myself, whether the elevation was enough that it was even true… glad to hear it’s not. I’m pretty sure I’ll still be getting mine tested before doing a damn thing in my backyard, when it’s eventually safe to do so. I’m too close to that ridiculous soap opera town by far, the evil already spills over into traffic every day around 3pm… don’t want to be feeding my plants that and then putting it in my lungs too. Might just use tap water, I have it filtered down to 0.1 EC - not quite RO level, but relatively clear anyway.
Hmm, interesting. So I guess I was kinda right about the elevation playing a role… but not really, if his water is being contaminated by shale rather than the Bay. Weird. Nature is funny like that, as my plants remind me every day.
Oh man, I am definitely mountain top living here… 40 min drive and I am at the highest point in the state. Its ALL mountains by me… The Highlands Act curtailed a lot of building in the area, and we are the “Stewards of Newark Watershed”. All that means is our taxes are higher because Newark Watershed won’t pay taxes till 2055 (thank you 1955 town council for giving them a 100yr tax abatement)… Oh, and WE gotta pay for permits to use the land (hike, fish, hunt, bike or horseback), but Newark residents get permits for free. Nice way to thank us for not pissing in your water, Newark…
As a kid I would drink straight from the stream in the woods behind the house, I only grew one extra toe LOL Actually that water USED to be delicious, but maybe 10 yrs ago we had beavers move into the area and build a dam up stream. I wouldn’t drink that water now, not with beavers upstream, that WILL make you sick. Damn beavers also made an 8 acre beaver pond back there in what used to be meadows and young forest.
Elevation is a wierd thing with groundwater… Even though I am mountaintops, if you dig down in my yard 18" you hit the water table. One would think that would seep to lower elevations, but it seems to almost run parallel to the surface of the ground. I am WAY too far for the Hudson to have an effect, or the Delaware for that matter (almost dead in the middle between em).
We never even thought about the shale shelf in the area. Sometimes its really shallow (like in the next town over, you hit it at 24" down), but at my place its over 150’ down. Thats a bitch to dig thru, I’ve broken teeth on an excavator trying to trench thru it… Amazing water seeps thru it, its almost like a concrete layer.
Well, if it also means they don’t contaminate your water until 2055, that would seem to work out reasonably ok… though not great, since higher taxes than the rest of the highest-taxed state in the country. I guess I’m not entirely surprised, I went to the NY Ren Faire (Tuxedo) last month with a few friends and probably drove right by your area on the way since we bypassed NYC and went via Parsippany. It’s pretty damn empty, must be great. Meanwhile here I am trying to strategically grow bushes so the neighbors won’t see any reflected lights, since we’re packed in pretty tight as Suburbia goes - ~50 feet between houses or so, I can look out my bedroom window and see the neighbor’s kitchen.
Yeah, you drove right past my town, but not thru it. Tuxedo isn’t far, and thats exactly what my town is like. I can be at RenFaire in about 20 mins (BTW, the fountains / bubblers in their two lakes? I installed em LOL). That big lake, its hardly 2ft deep across most of it, but 4ft of mud beneath that… Used to be a botanical garden in the early 1900’s, and theres still quite a few specimen trees hiding out in the “woods” around there…
Here, there’s 75ft between me and neighbor to the south, but 150ft between me and neighbor to the north. no neighbors to the west, and neighbor across the street is 100ft away easily. Mostly half acre lots or bigger, much of my town is now R4, so 4 acre lots minimum.
Even having that distance from the neighbors, I wouldnt do anything outside in the yard. But there’s fields and woods all over. Just gotta know the traffic in the area, and covid REALLY increased hiker traffic. Lots of overgrown (as in 20-30 yrs overgrown) farm fields which are nice because of the small trees and scrub brush you can use to hide things…
Good, we were commenting as we drove through the parking lot that Tuxedo became that it was probably a nightmare for the people living around there… glad that wasn’t you. Oddly though, the parts of Tuxedo we drove through, even the back streets, didn’t look all that different from my area. No big open spaces, though everyone had a nice-sized yard and ~50-100 feet between houses. I guess the open spaces just aren’t so much in the residential areas, mostly. It’s kinda funny you installed the bubblers at the Ren Faire, guess it’s a small world after all. My friend’s wife should get a kick out of that, she spent at least 5-10 minutes watching the pond while we were all waiting to meet up there before going to the joust.
Yeah, probably lots of nice areas you can use for an outdoor grow there. I have a couple of outdoor strains myself, but I doubt there’s enough undisturbed land around here to keep it secret… dunno, maybe with one of the mutants. Freakshow might work in some of the swampier areas, looks kinda like a fern or cat’s tails if you don’t get too close…
Yeah I seen your one post about hoping the ladies get another nice day to soak up the sunlight …
Woke up I’m like damn pretty nice out for being 100%rain I the forecast couple hours went by me and the woman went to Lowe’s by the time we go out I swear to you it was a mini hurricane …made a run for it when the time was right …
Got home looked into field for my blind no blind ended up going chasing that down with her during a break in the rain set it back up started raining again so we just sat in there talked and smoked a joint …good memories
Checked out the autos this morning with the scope. The Trop Poison F2 is 80% amber, the BJH’s are 30% and the BC’s are still 10%. The NL is almost all clear with a few cloudy. Trop Poison will be pulled asap, only letting em make seeds at this point… The others are fattening up, and still doing ok so I’m gonna let em go longer to ensure good seed production. Not so worried about the bud, but the main colas weren’t pollenated, so there will be some, though I suspect a random seed or ten…
The weather sure changed a lot between yesterday am and last night!!!
@Nagel420 you’re a northeast dude too? I knew I liked you
So. I just found my new favorite headshop…
I went to see the price on that amazing octopus glass piece I posted the other day. I knew it would be out of my price range but still wanted to know. Yeah, uhm, $3500… Guy asks me what my budget was, I laugh and say “take off two zeros”. Ok, sounds unimpressive, $35… So I upped it to $100. I mean, its glass, and for me, its not IF it will break, its WHEN. So, he pokes around, pulls out a nice glass piece, one non-structural chip, $150 normally, $90 tax included. Ok. I like it, lets do it. So we’re chatting about licenses and the legalization, I mention I will be applying for a cultivators license and that piques his curiousity. We start chatting more, and he gives me a nice edible. Then a fat nug… Next thing I know he’s pulled out a container filled with seeds “anything in here interest you?” (he starts reading off labels). “Hoochies Meatbreath x Hooligans”… STOP! I WANT THAT ONE! Don’t have to read any more, GIMME MEAT BREATH!
So. once the cultivators license thing is good, I obviously want my OWN strains, bred by me, not mass purchased seeds… And I am going with a joisey theme. @Slick1 has given me some awesome ideas for strain names, and this meatbreath cross is gonna be the first in my line
(Meatbreath x Hooligans) x (JOTIs God’s Blue Cheese x Bare’s 88G13HP)
Whats that make? I guess it depends ROFLMAO. It might be “Pork Roll and Cheese” but that wouldn’t be right. I might have to go with “Taylor Ham and Cheese”. Then cross with my black creams, and “Blackened Taylor Ham and Cheese”…
You heard it here first!!
I am a HAPPY HAPPY boy right now!!!
You’re doing this just to start a fight with @Slick1, aren’t you? Really though, that’s pretty cool, made a friend in the business and got a few freebies out of the deal. Who knows, maybe you’ve just met your first distributor. $90 for a piece though, that’s kinda steep. Do we get pics?
Hmm. Pretty nice design, but I never particularly like companies branding what they sell you so you can’t use it without advertising for them… just a pet peeve. Still, $90 probably is a deal on it, even basic pipes are $60 at Wonderland now. It feels like that’s more expensive but it might not be tbh, before recently having to replace it my last bowl came to me for free in 2003 and lasted through being dropped at least a dozen times before finally succumbing to the abuse.
If someone tells you the sky is made of cotton candy and you correct them is it really a “fight”? Regardless of how hard they persist, the sky is not in any conceivable way shape or form made of cotton candy.
Other than his having come up with the idea 70 years ago, you and Bertrand Russell would have some great fun talking teapots.
The funny thing is, strictly by the numbers, its almost a dead split down the middle…
