Set up my 1st bit of automation in Home assistant! It’s not much but I setup a basic fan controller that will turn on and off to try and keep a certain temp with a tolerance range so its not on and off constantly.
It is controlling this fan which i directed towards my portable ac. I’m thinking this may help drop temps a bit more?
Day 30 of 12/12 lighting just about half way there now! Starting to get real frosty now in the tent. One of the plants is further ahead then then others and has been almost the whole time from seed. Looking like it’s going to be a big producer hopefully I like the smoke!
The big plant is the one with the bud @Oldtimerunderground suspects is a polyploid. That specific bud is rather shaded it didn’t grow nearly as tall as the other colas. If it had more direct light i have no doubt it would dwarf all the other buds. Even still its about the same size as the lighter pic above.
Also my success rate with clones seems to be improving. I took alot of cuts last week while the plant was flowering and most of them are forming roots now. The one cut that survived from my first batch while they where in veg is still doing alright slow but it has 1 inch roots now.
Only change so far is installing a ac unit to the room they have been in so it must of been high temps causing that stem mold or whatever that was. That or I didn’t use rooting gel this time but I’m leaning more towards the high temps.
Cannalope got crossed with old school Afghan and them two together created amazing Sativa strain. Its aroma is strong and fruity with dark chocolate undertones. This is the only one type of chocolate which won’t make you feel guilty. Its famous parents provided high yields as expected. Its massive and heavy flowers can be seen in about 65 days. Chocolate Heaven is extremely easy to cultivate and can grow really tall.
Indoor: 450 gr/m2;
Outdoor: 700 gr/plant
Flowering: 65 days indoor; end September / early October outdoor
Flavour: Dark chocolate with Sweet hints
Aroma: Fruity, Sweet with Chocolate backnotes
Effects: Happy, Sativa Cerebral buzz
THC: 18-20%
Like all cannabis plants, OG Kush requires nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, OG Kush – like all plants with OG genetics – requires a healthy dose of calcium and magnesium. Calcium provides structure to the plant and helps it withstand stress.
Unfortunately, it isn’t easy to determine whether a cannabis plant has a calcium deficiency because it is typically accompanied by other issues such as iron or magnesium deficiency.
Bear in mind that calcium moves through the OG Kush plant rather slowly. As a result, you can spot deficiencies in parts of fan leaves exposed to light and newer growth. Signs to look out for include curled tips, stunted growth, crinkling, dead spots, and small or unusual-looking new leaves.
Signs for calcium deficiency in an OG Kush grow include curled tips, dead spots, crinkling, stunted growth, and small/unusual looking new leaves.
If your OG Kush plant doesn’t receive enough calcium, it displays these telltale signs:
The stems become weak and hollow
The development of the buds and flowers is slow
The roots become more susceptible to root rot.
A calcium deficiency is a particular problem when using a hydroponic grow setup. If you believe your plants have a calcium deficiency, invest in a Cal-Mag (calcium and magnesium) supplement.
As magnesium is a mobile nutrient, your plants can transport it from old leaves to new ones. The problem with this deficiency is that it can quickly cause your plants to lose many lower leaves. Your plants may have a magnesium deficiency if the bottom leaves on the plant have yellow or bright green edges that feel crisp to the touch.
After reading this I have a feeling I haven’t been giving my plants enough cal-mag. Before I defoliated on week 3 of flower I was losing lots of the lower leaves almost identical to this description. I think I even noticed a hollow stem.
A cal-mag deficiency is starting to make a lot of sense considering this is a cross of Bubba Kush and OG Kush.
My only question is how much do I add without overdoing it lol
Im currently adding 1.9ml per gallon of cal-mag to RO water.
ah shit after doing some more reading on this im seeing people growing OG Kush are using anywhere from 4-10ml per gallon lol
Things are starting to click and make alot of sense here. My RDWC holds a good amount of water about 60 gallons. When i do a fresh nute change readings seem normal for a while. But if i leave it too long without changing more often then less the PPM would start rising which I thought meant i was overfeeding. In reality whats happening here is everything is fine when i do a fresh nute change because the plants have enough cal mag for a few days to a week. when they suck out the little bit of cal mag i was mixing in is when i must be starting to have problems.
Yep today I can confirm it was a cal-mag deficiency. about 24 hours ago I added 50ml of cal-mag to my res to test my theory of the nutes being depleted of cal mag already. 24 hours later I kept a steady ppm of 670 and the plants drank a shit load of water.
Steady ppms and water level dropping is what i want to see
