Its possible the chlorine treatment has done some good after all. I’ll post an up-date in my HPA thread shortly.
Knowledge TEST for the Hydroponic Pros !
So I asked a friend in the US to get this ORP meter from Amazon for me (I live in Southern Africa). I was so excited to get it, I open the box and start reading the manual. IT SAYS, “Condition the ORP electrode by immersing in ORP protection solution for 1 hour” WTF???
At no place on their website did it state I needed a solution or solutions. Now I have to wait six months for my friend to come over again.
What is this magical solution?
HAS ANYONE WORKED WITH THESE METERS? Thanks.
Its the same stuff used for PH probes and meters - KCL - Potassium Cloride. Its not expensive if you can have it mailed to you.
Here is one example:
Thanks, I realised I had the Blulab KCI solution and got it sorted
Howdy! IMHO, Too much junk in the mix, and not enough of air pumped into the root zone. … I would run Jacks professional nutes, along with there calcium nitrate at 1/2 tsp. of each per gallon. Keep the ph at 5.8, top off with plain water everyday… and change out weekly. DO NOT use anything else but the nutes!! Please take a look at my pictures thread. The proof’s in the pudding. Best of luck
280 watt air pump turbulating 8 buckets. Im running the jacks professional hydro nutrients along withe the calcium nitrate(required)…Top off with plain water, and I change out the nutes every 7 days. Thats it!!
Nice roots! What is your water temp? I may give this another shot… coco is treating me well so far though. Having said that I would love to not mess with substrate at all.
My air was plentiful, I had a commercial pump running 4 buckets probably twice the volume recommended by most.
Junk in the mix? Very possible. I’ll try again without. Will get some clear food. Was cal nit necessary?
Thank you for the compliment. My water temp varies… But usually right around 65-75 degrees(I run ac in the house only in the summer). IMHO, when you run this, that, and the other thing in the reservor/bucket…or even in soil, you will certainly run into problems. One thing to fix another, which turns into yet another problem, and so on… When you keep the op simple, or basic, things will usually run a whole lot smoother. Some may not “believe” in what Im saying right now, …but after a few decades of trial and error they may change their minds. Im not saying all additives are bad, just unecessary most of time, and they will stain roots, and cause erratic ph swings, etc etc …Im not a Mr. Know it all, but I’ll tell you this “Less is More” … Thats a true statement… Now in flower, Iam a firm believer in upping the phosphorous, and potassium after the stretch. I like adding MKP along with my base nutes/ferts at only 1/8th teaspoon per gallon. The Jack’s professional nutrients I have mentioned earlier is a 2 part. You need the hydro mix, and you also need the calcium nitrate. This is not organic, but after a good flush and cure, you will be blown away by the taste of your smoke. Very easy, and no more problems. I use tap and well water, and I barely even use my ppm/ph meter anymore. Collecting dust. I know what to expect out of the Jack’s Line of nutrients and ferts. They know their shit. Google Jack’s hydroponic nutes and you will be directed. Have a nice evening. Good luck to ya! Bye
This is the truth right here. Keep to the fundamentals and keep the amount of “moving parts” to a minimum. All you need is a complete fertilizer, pH up/down, and MKP. There are some decent additives, but keeping airflow/light/temps/pH in proper parameters is 95% of the job.
This is the line is Nuts im using . Does wonder !!! and i tend to run them lighter in veg and full blown in flower.
Only thing im noticing is you have to add UC roots every couple days compare to HydroGuard once a week
Do you have more on this process in another thread or journal? I’m familiar with it but I’m interested in how others do it.
