New 4x4! Garage growing

Hello everyone, I got a new 4x4 tent for Christmas so thought it would be a good time to start my first grow journal on here.

Specs -
Spider Farmer® 4’x4’X6.5′ G5000 480w Full Spectrum LED Grow Light丨6” Clip Fan丨6” Ventilation System with Humidity and Temperature Controller

Upgrade from my first 4x2 tent which now will be used as my veg/mother tent. Can’t wait to use the controller and see if it’ll help give me a more stable environment. Struggle sometimes with temp and RH since I’m in a garage

Strains - 3 of each
Dancing Lime - Bobs Bitchen Beans
Chernobyl(Slymer)x Baja Blast
Gifted the Dancing Lime(thank you Bob!) really interested in the terps from both parents and the frost from the Slymer side

Breeders Choice #4 - DJ Short
Want to see what I have(supposedly it’s from the Blue Moonshine genetics)and hopefully get a nice male or female to use in a chuck down the road

Double Thunder - @JohnnyPotseed
Thunder Rose(Frankenstein x King Tut x Cindy-99 x Strawberry Alien Moonrocks)x Alaskan Thunder Fck
Loaded up on beans at his sale, these are the first of them that I’m popping since they are supposed to be fire

5 gal fabric pots
70% Sungro Sunshine mix #4 and 30% Ocean Forest

Sure to learn some new things and have some fun along the way, and ending up with some good smoke

Putting in Solo cups

The wife says I need to wait till Xmas to open and set up the new tent, but that doesn’t mean I can’t get a head start on popping the beans

Germinated all 3 strains in paper towels. 2xT were the first to pop with DL right behind, the DJ#4 were cracked but didn’t grow tails till the following day.

Labeled cups, filled them with 70% Grow mix #4, 30% Happy Frog

We have seedlings! Trend continued, with the 2xThunder breaking out the soil, then the Lime and DJ bringing up the rear.

Please excuse the messy tent

So exciting! First off well done on the upgrade. A 4x4 is about perfect for me to harvest twice a year without any pressure or stress on timing. That’s plenty for you and your buds.

Nice selection on genetics, keep a few mothers in your veg tent and pay attention to how they stretch. I have cuts that range for minimal to extreme stretch, it’s important to find cuts that have similar range so you know to run those together. I always love variety so I don’t mind a bit of yield loss but I’ve noticed if I get an even canopy I easily yield 2x that of when I just run whatever I’ve got stretch be damned.

Thank you, I’m really excited about having two tents now. As you said should help make things easier all around.
Great advice! Lots of things to learn now that I have two tents and no better place to do it then on OG.

I made the upgrade from a 2x2 to a 4x4 last year and having 2 tents made a world of difference to what I could do. That lineup of yours looks like your gonna have some fire on your hands. Good luck on your grow!!

Awesome! Sounds like a move i made a couple of years ago. 2x4, 4x4, garage, soil grow. No doubt the controler will serve you well. Sounds like a heck of a line up too!

Thank you both for the words of encouragement.
I’m really excited about the lineup as well, should be :fire:

I was ashamed of my dirty set-up so I cleaned up and organized a little

I figured I’d give a little update before Xmas. I’ll be busy and I’m sure everyone else as well.
Seedling are doing great. Making me a little nervous how easy it has been.

Most are on their second or third set of leaves with DJ Short still behind and two of them having a twisty leaf thing going on.

Guess I’ll mention the two older plants in the room, as they will probably be the first to go in the 4x4.
They are MOB x Sour Lifesaver from Dirty Worm Farms co-lab with Off Grid Seeds. @Electric-Stoner made these seeds, but looks like he hasn’t logged in for a while.

Praying that one will be female as I’ve popped two rounds of different seeds with all of them being males. Did get some Fireball pollen at least for all my time spent.
Temp 88°F - 75°F
RH 60% - 70%
I do run a small space heater and also a 6 liter Spider Farmer humidifier
Everything is looking on point.
Hope you all have a wonderful Holidays :call_me_hand:t3:

My wife is also making me grow some vegetables in the 2 x 4. Only way she would let me buy the new tent.:joy:

The holidays are over so I think it’s time for an update, and let’s just say it was pretty rough.
Got my new 4x4 set up, and only moved the 2 larger plants I had started earlier inside. Doing that made my tent environment in the 2x4 fluctuate so bad I’m still trying to stabilize it.

As you can see, some of the plants are looking a little worse for wear. The temps spiked up to the high 90F, and the humidifier stop working. Also, without the larger plants not being there to buffer the fan, the direct breeze caused even more damage. Lost one Dancing Lime due to this. RIP
On the bright side they are pulling out of it and I up potted them all which I’m hoping will start an explosion of growth and we can forget about all of this ever happening.

Here is the new 4x4 setup with the 2 MOBxSL inside. When they first went in they were hating the light, turned it down to 70% and they are starting to look like they are getting used to it. 90% positive the one of the left is female and the right is a male but I’ll give it one more week before I toss the male to make sure.
Did a little pruning to both and some LST on the “female”. Once I’m positive on the sex, I’m thinking about trying doing ScrOG for the first time. Figure I only have one plant in this large tent so I should try and maximize the space.I’m sure with all the info on here and everyone’s help I’ll be fine.
As for the new tent, I couldn’t be happier. The light is powerful as fk and all the extra space has been great for my back. Also loving the side access flaps to do things so I don’t have to climb into the tent. The controller for the exhaust is okay. I can set programs for the exhaust to get stronger or weaker if it gets to hot or humid so it helps a little. Was really hoping it could do more.
Hope everyone had a great holidays and happy growing.

If you only have 1 female, she looks like you already have a good start on a scrog!

Enjoying your grow journal :+1:
I’m also thinking about Scrogging for the first time on my next grow.
But can’t help to think how much of a hassle it is:

  1. To get it up
  2. To continually weave around
  3. It possibly getting in the way of watering
  4. To get it off after the harvest
  5. To clean off the trichromes and plant matter for the next grow

Maybe I’m just being lazy. lol :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Thank you. First time trying it, but the genetics for this plant make it a good candidate I think. She’s really short and bushy and from what I hear finish quickly once you flip.

Glad you’re enjoying it, thank you. After reading other people’s experiences I went an ordered a premade net built for a 4x4. Didn’t really feel like figuring it out on the fly.
Once it gets in I’ll post setting it up and if you hang around I’m sure the other questions will get answered or at least get a better idea of what works.

Hey man. Nice log, I’m following, love to see a new log pop up!

Scrogs are cool, but something you should consider is the fact that once the plants are in and out of that net, no more moving those plants around! They are stuck there.

Are you going to dry in your flower tent, or you don’t have to worry about smell in the house? Are your seedlings stuck in veg until your large plants finish?

Most definitely! Thanks for logging this grow and your setup.

And, that’s another additional hassle to the list! lol.

Thanks and thank you for following along. With the new tent I figured with a journal and the problems that I’m sure will happen, I’d get some good advice on here.
Hoping to get the one "female":crossed_fingers:t3: centered and fill out as much of the screen as possible before flipping.
A lot of where the other plants end up is based on how many girls I get. MOB and most BOG strains I read about finish fast. If that happens I should be able to move over all the girls. If it takes longer might have to start flowering in the 2x4. Not ideal but the plants will just be smaller.
I usually dry in my garage around this time of year.
