It seems like a balancing act. Too little moisture would affect the chemical reaction(s), and too much results in mold.
Damn, I’ve learned a lot here. It’s still VERY illegal here, and I can’t do much more than learn theory and accumulate knowledge until the law changes. Once I can grow, everything I do will have been thoroughly researched.
I cured out two jars of Critical Kush this summer, one at 58%RH and one at 62% (same plant, same initial drying).
The 58% jar was the best tasting with a nice pine/lemon thing happening and a sort of ‘minty’ aftertaste.
The 62% was the same potency but ‘meh’ as my kid would say. It was ‘fine’ by itself but definitely a step down compared to the other jar.
This actually caused me significant ‘angst’ as I standardised on 62% years ago…

Oof damn 62% is actually bad? Wtffffffff 🫠
Reaction aside I’ve noticed that my jar with the humidity pack is missing its berry smell and tastes more like generic musk weed. This joint here was a 1.7g joint with all 3 jars mixed together. Tbh the ones in the pack free jars are so terpene heavy they numb my tongue without a break in the middle of the joint.
I hope not, but I’m starting to wonder…
I noticed that there are far fewer options for 58% humidity packs than 62%. I’ll be purchasing 58% in the immediate future to investigate this further.

I didn’t smoke the pack jar yesterday, but damn the high is a 1 puff and done high. I smoked it heavily granted, but my partner was good off a hit from a snap she didn’t clear.
Strong berry notes with musk undertones.
Made edibles and today was the day to cut and portion the gummy slab. I thought it was a cbg tincture. I know it started that way over a year ago, but it did something once it became a gummy. Pain in the ass to cut with my sharpest chef knife. Freshly sharpened too.
Cherry Lime Rickey flavor. Wound up more like cherry vanilla Coca-Cola with a shot of lime juice added.
Also to celebrate my fiance coming back home from her work trip I rolled a nice 2g fatty from the 62% pack jar. I’m going to use her stronger sense of smell and taste to judge the flavors of the smoke. I can’t taste past smoke. She can. My skills rely on lingering flavors and smells for the finer notes that I can’t smell when it’s fresh. That bud is nose burning up close. Smell from a distance or you will regret it. The kief also is insanely terpy…
