There goes that. I guess it’s no surprise; when you’re that connected, you don’t face actual consequences, you just toss out a few more bribes as part of the cost of doing business. The surprising part is that it ever made it to the news before they paid the right people off.

Headline should say “CRC course corrects after finally doing something right”.

It’s possible I didn’t fully do my research when I was moving back here. :stuck_out_tongue: I knew there was a reason I wanted to move back, other than the politics
 and the fake legalization
 and the taxes
 and rush hour in Lakewood

I still think the cornhole league is is more significant. :stuck_out_tongue: Any deal to allow homegrowing will probably require that growers register with the state - at quite a high cost, no doubt - and give up all personal privacy to allow them unlimited inspection rights, if not worse. If I remember right from when Nagel was looking into it, the requirements for operating a small business already include 24/7 video surveillance accessible by the state, and they revoke your license if someone unregistered shows up on-site. Then you look at the fact that plant counts are declining in every other state anyway, and it’ll probably end up being a felony to grow more than 2 plants without a license and weekly inspections. Better to just stay under the radar, at that point.

Still no homegrowing, but at least the Sayreville PD seems to be getting high

https://www.nj.com/news/2023/08/fish-dropped-from-the-sky-knocks-out-power-in-nj-town.html

The police department’s lighthearted post on the incident urged the public to not forget the “victim in this senseless death,” referring to the fish, which they dubbed “Gilligan.”

“Gilligan was a hard working family man. He was a father to thousands of children,” the post read. “The suspect was last seen flying South. If you see him do not try to apprehend him.”

“Although he isn’t believed to be armed he may still be very dangerous,” it continued. “If you have any information in this case please contact Detective John Silver who handles all of our fish cases.”
