New phobia - seed germination

So, in which dosage do you use it? You can buy it as 3, 5 , 11,9 or 30% solution and how would you delute it

Nematodes are a microscopic worm. They feed on larvae the way the monster in ā€œAlienā€ fed on the crew. Itā€™s been quite a while since Iā€™ve seen any flyinā€™ fuckers around my plants. I usually see them when I am sitting at my computer and they fly right past my face. Thrips, like gnats, are attracted to a humanā€™s breathing.

Iā€™m hoping that if I continually give them scheduled feedings containing nematodes, eventually they must go extinct. Iā€™m keeping NaturesGoodGuys.com in business for now.

I no longer grow in dirt. My flyinā€™ fuckers problems lead me to do all sorts of things differently. I even tried drilling my pots. Iā€™ll takes some pics to post. I was so sure that ventilation would solve the wet soil problem that attracts the little bastards, that I painstakingly marked and drill more than 40 pots. All that did was give the vermin more places to attack my poor plants from. It actually made my problem worse! Although, during the very short period after I tossed all my soils and bagged and disposed of infested root balls, that I dared to believe I solved it by using coco and better quality feeds, that my plants grew so hard and fast that I had to destroy full grown plants because I had no place to put them. During that time my growth rates increased to almost an inch per day, and my flowering cycle reduced by 30%.

I was so sure I had the problem solved that when I saw the trials of flyinā€™ fucker shit surrounding all the holes, I wrote it off as using too much feed in my water. Fortunately, I didnā€™t get completely stupid, but it did take me precious days to get it. You see, I was sure I had gnats. I had a hell of a time figuring out that the tiny ā€œgnatsā€ were actually a different, more agonizing problem. They are so small that I thought all the dust I was seeing in the air was actually thrips. I found out about them by trying doggedly to identify the hundreds of larvae I kept finding. I knew they werenā€™t gnats because gnats and their larvae are extremely well documented on the web. Thrips on the other hand, werenā€™t. Not well at all.

But, fingers crossed, It all over except for the fat lady singingā€¦

nematodes work fairly well. also a 1/2" layer of sand on the top of your soil will kill off fungus gnats pretty quickly. make sure thereā€™s no exposed soil after watering and stuff.

Wow, thanks, good to knowā€¦:frowning_with_open_mouth:

As a man, you never know when that info will be useful :scream:

Best buying the 3% peroxide & try not using too much and make sure you cover the top after application- with fly paper or sand/diotemacious Earth to stop the flying fkers laying more eggs etcā€¦
Good luck

Can you use these in a hydro setup?

I received repos from Bill @ Mephisto, when none of my 3 Bears OG made it. I got my original 18 seed pack and 5 Alien vs Triangle for free plus a sick decal.

Iā€™d only be guessing. I think if you have larvae living in the hydro, nematodes should survive for a while. Nematodes donā€™t have feet like the target larvae, so theyā€™d rely on the water flow to get them into place. They can be used in a pressure sprayer so Iā€™m sure they could survive your hydro pump. They do just fine in coco.

Here is the place to go if you need specific information like using in a hydro:

I contacted them before my first purchase to see if I could use them with feed. The answer, BTW, was yes, just donā€™t mix them with the nutrient concentrate, because that would probably kill them.

They also carry other natural predator types for different types of infestations. Kind of a one stop shop for predatorial solutions to pest problems

I hope this has been some help. :vulcan:

it must be food grade stuff not pharmaceutical. I have 35% but it is potent stuff that can cause burns so you have to be careful if you do get it.

Damn man you know some people. Nice!!

Me too! Ive killed a lot of seeds the last couple years, sadly. BUT i do live in a cold environment, where just a little too much water can Dampen them all off and die.

I did get some seeds recently from Sannies (Silverfields),he sent me some free Spongepots that came with some BACTO, i got them all to sprout this time. I think the bacto helped keep some of whats been killing my seeds at bay. And the spongepots made it harder for me to over water them on accident. I also did not do a short seed soak in water.
So hopefully my seed murdering days are over.I think i had just gone on for so many years with things being fine and i didnt realize i added a step and started killing my seeds like an idiot.

Where are you at? Iā€™m in SE Alaska and itā€™s a rainforest/cold winters here. My issue ended up being inconsistent temps when it dropped at night so i got more control over that and boom.

Midcoast Maine.

I run a perpetual, so my HPS basically is my heat source in my basement room. It generally hovers around 62f in the winter time. It use to be more warm when i had a 400 magnetic ballast as a side light

Think about something that can keep 70+ and consistently. 62 is probably exactly the reason right there.

I ended up using the vent from my refrigerator and/or directly under my CFL bubls inside of a little pouch* to keep it dark. When I had temps dropping below 68, it was causing them to stall and then eventually die due to the water rot.

something like a water heater, heat mat, something that stays consitent until the seeds germ (top of a playstation, etc)

Also- how are you germinating them? I personally use wet paper towel but there are methods that can work better/worse depending on conditions.Sorry; Spongepotsā€¦ OK. Never heard of that- Glad your last batch popped though- can be infuriating as hell when itā€™s holding up the whole show

Not vouching for this website one bit, just found an easy picture to use for the spongepots i use. I guess its just like sponge, brown colored. Bout the size of a thumb.

I do use a heat mat now. Yeah, i lost a lot of money in beans.

I use to use Jiffy pellets after soaking them for so many hours
Lesson learned

Thatā€™s the process thoughā€¦ learned SO many lessons my last grow.

Just getting started, reallyā€¦ learning every day. Just wrapped my head around rough cloning (straight in soil, using peroxide and water) because i had no idea that the key is keeping the humidity at literally 90-100% to keep the moisture in the plants long enough to grow roots (before they wilt and die), for example. At 100% humidity, the moisture doesnā€™t have anywhere to go so it stays in the plant longer so i just dome them and get good results.

Once I get setup Iā€™ll get a proper cloning gel/powder, etc but im using as much DIY as i can right now.

There are some good responses on this thread (Giberillic acid, etc) but I found that my issue personally was most def. inconsistent temperatures (dropping at night) for germinating.

Enjoy bro. Glad they popped for ya.

Its kind of funny. Sometimes i break a branch, and ill just jam it in dirt and water it. If it doesnt root oh well, if it does i got an extra plant. Yeah, you want it just under 100%, so the it grows more roots that go looking for water. I think something about it almost drying out kicks start the root process, in soil or jiffy pellets that is. Because i just rooted a seedling i snapped in half. I was so mad i broke it because ive never had luck rooting a broken seedling.
I currently use a daisy cloner converted into a dwc cloner. The aeroponic sprayer always got clogged, but it use to make the nicest fastest rooting clones. The dwc cloner works good enough for now.ā€™

Ive actually rooted a seed using the daisy cloner I put the seed at the very bottom of those neoprene collars so it could be held but also get misted, It worked. But im not sure id do this for my best beans, was just an experiment.

There really is only one cure, if you really have a phobia.

Confront your fears.

Make beans.

Same for clones, keep the heat up. 75-80F is fine.
