It’s really interesting to see the difference in our grow methods.
It really comes down what works for the individual. Never change a winning team, I’d say.
About the watering, I go real fast and dump 3.5l in one shot. I like the sound off water gushing out the bottom that I can hear all that fresh air getting sucked into the pot. I do that every day at least once. But ultimately I’d like to set it up automatically with a pump and water smaller amounts three times a day
This is my first run with coco as well. I really hope i didnt fuck up too bad, but right now my plants look amazing. Im using Fox Farms Coco loco in 1 gallon fabric pots with Canna coco nutes. Been using canna a+b, rhizo, and adding extra calmag. Will start adding canna boost this weekend and drop the cal mag.
Looks like you’re doing better than me, LOL fantastic!
They do look very nice…what week are they in now?
I forgot to write down when i flipped them, but i think they’re close to the 30 day mark. Im horrible at keeping notes and tracking this and that. I know if i want to get deeper into this coco journey and run more than 2 plants at a time I need to start taking better notes on how they react to their feedings. Right now im hand watering once daily, but im worried about running into issues later in flower when they are real thirsty.
From what I see and hear you’re doing fine. Do you use cannazyme too?
I love it in coco…specially since I reuse it for a few grows it worked a treat for me
People are really overthinking this. I have never checked my coco runoff and can’t say I ever will. I watch my plants. If they are happy, I know what I am doing is right. That’s how I got to the numbers I used and have used them for years now. I suppose it’s up to the grower to decide if they wish to follow advise and who’s they choose to follow. Best of luck to you @anon56848724 . I would bet you are worse off now then before you asked with all the conflicting info.
Oh, by the way, Coco Coir has a natural PH of 5.7 to 6.5 if I recall correctly.
agreed here. every grower i have asked would tell me run off in coco will lead u to chasing problems that arent there. i too can second guess myself and then go asking others for opinions and help but it always leads back to the basics of keep it simple and relax
Do you mean checking runoff in coco?
@DougDawson @204medismoke Asking just to skim the waters to see if anything comes up. That’s in with alignment of my own thinking and how those things play out for them. I agree with the both of you. too much damn conflicting information between individual growers And it’s nerely impossible to find anything online these days. That does not conflict with somebody else even from between quote professional growers and Highly educated individuals. I have learned to listen to the plants over the years. but I have always grown DWC Coco as a new medium for me. Had to switch in a hurry and hoping. I didn’t f anything up too bad but we shall see. What I am gleaming, run off is just a proxy for what’s actually happening. Maybe A Check it just to make sure things aren’t way too far off. But not telling you the whole story that’s for sure.
I miss the 90’s Where the only influence you had was a book you bought under-the-table. Out of your local sketchy head shop. Lol
I can’t be the only one who Bought this book read a 1000 times and had success…can I?
Ahhhyes. Back in the day, buying or checking certain books under fear of being put on a Govt list
I’ve been running my plants on the lightest recommended feed schedule. Had some calmag def early on but have been giving 2ml/ gal in my feed and my plants are thriving. I think a lot of people are in the mind set that more is better and then run into a ton of issues.
I personally have been going a lil bit heavy-handed on the cal-mag through veg (about 4ml/gal), and tapering it off in flower, eliminating it fully by about week 4 flower. By which time, the coco should stay well buffered enough to not cause any issues in flower. So far it hasn’t caused me any issues
what light is used here
The cops took my copy of that book along with all of my other pot books when they raided my place years ago.
In my opinion if you can grow DWC then you can definitely get the hang of coco.
Coco is like hydro with training wheels and with the exception of active DWC like Undercurrent it will outperform as well, IMHO.
Using SF 2000 in 2’6" squared tent.
Thanks for the pep talk buddy. Seriously it’s appreciated. I figured it couldn’t be much harder than DWC if not a little bit easier. still letting them dry out.
Might water later this evening? If not, tomorrow morning.
hanging height?
and did you dim
@SOGfanatic Download a. Lux app on the phone. Use that to judge hanging higth/diming… below. 15000 LUX for rooting clones and young seedlings. 20 to 50000 for vegetative growth. 50 to 70000 flower.
