What’s so very frustrating @mota is that this meme goes hand in hand with the “curse of competence”.
I was talking about this with the cashier at the grocery store this am.
Thanking her dearly for her speed and skill at her job and then reminded her not to let her managers see her doing so well or “the curse of competence” may kick in where you’ll end up getting more responsibility for no-more pay.
The number of times I’ve been fucked over because of being competent is fucking maddening. Meanwhile the brain turd that can’t walk and chew gum at the same time has a job and is happy because they lack the mental capacity to know how shit they are…
Being a smart, competent, and observant person isn’t necessarily all it’s cracked up to be. That said, I believe 100% that it’s better than being a dullard (even if it is more frustrating)!
A buddy of mine moved cities and acted stupid as fuck. He’s a PHD in something but was exhausted from what we are talking about.
Were he is now he’s happy and isn’t asked to do more than his job contract requires… no one knows how competent he is as he just acts like a dullard from an 80’s movie cliche and thus when he does go hardcore smart again it’s usually for himself and then he tells people he got help to do it.
A woman in England found an 5kg/11lb puffball in a field!
Once when I was milking cows, I found the largest puffball I personally have ever seen. It was about a foot in diameter. I was getting the 150 or so cows in for morning milking when I saw it. I decided to leave it in the field until I was done milking several hours later. By the time I returned it had deflated and started to turn dark. That was a sad morning for me.
Fell off the top of one of those SOB’s …flat on my back…knocked the wind outta me, and hurt like hell…
Mom made me ‘walk it off’’ because we were at the zoo and she didn’t want to waste the trip…seriously!
