I don’t know how many folks know the backstory to this song. In the early days of Limewire, this cover of Gin & Juice was circulated far and wide, but mistakenly attributed to the band Phish instead of The Gourds.
When I lived in St. Louis I recorded The Gourds at a house concert. A few of us requested that they play Gin & Juice but they refused. They did play a cover of R. Kelly’s “Feelin’ On Yo Booty” instead.

This is a fun listen. The band was pleased to be in such intimate surroundings. They were set up in the breakfast nook with maybe 70 people in attendance…
