It’s been just over two years and I still miss my buddies. These brought a tear to my eyes.

I saw one from my neighbourhood in the 60s and did not enjoy it.

In 1952, my folks found a house on the block that we lived on for a couple who were their friends. We lived in SW Los Angeles, near the foot of the Baldwin Hills. It was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a two car garage, large back yard and front yard. $3,750.

In my immediate family, my sisters’ famously drew all over the living and dining room walls before they were papered. Ann and Norman, my folks’ friends, thought what the hell, we’d love to do it if we were 11 years old. And so they did and I heard all about it for decades. Fast forward thirty years, Ann and Norman still live in the house and ask me to paint the interior. The wall paper that they had chosen so many years before was split bamboo on paper. The bamboo made getting the paper off the walls much easier than had it simply been paper, and low and behold, there, under where the paper had been, was my sisters’ scribblings. Nothing really identifiable other than to say there were lines of various colors. To say it was a let down is to do disservice to “let down.” I have no idea what I was expecting. I did, of course, send pictures to my sisters’. They laughed.

Wow!!! Wonder what that house would sell for now? Great story though!! I draw in all types of obscure places in every place I live…one day someone will see them and be like, “is that a penis?”.

Houses here now cost 2 million. In the 60s they were 30K
