At one of the apartment complexes I used to work at, there were two married couples who had separated but still lived together because it was too expensive to live apart. In both cases, they were one bedroom apartments with the bedroom and full bath upstairs. The woman occupied the upstairs in both cases. This was more than a decade ago in a pricey suburb.

But really, itās crazy.
Itās made even worse because interest rates are so high that the amount a bank will give you for a mortgage is a fraction of what it was 5 years ago.
In order to even play at all Iād need 500k in hand just to get started. Forget the old ways of saving for a down payment.
