The cashier asked immediately what am I making and smiled saying cannabis tinctures. I have so much crumbled flower to use up from seed schucking so I figured its time. I have another three fairly large plants that will probably harvest middle of next month that are full of seeds too.
i had about 1-2 pounds of scraps but they were all so weak i never wasted my time with it. i tossed it all into a fire pit, lol.
I have a big zip lock bag of trimming I am going toss in my fire pit when my neighbors have a block party. maybe they will think twice about placing the street barricade again by my deive way…
mine gave up a ton of thick smoke, you could probably get high standing near it.
Thats great! For the record, I have issues with my neighbors. Some of them lack common sense and it irritates me lol
Hey bud,I’ve been making tincture for about over a year know with 190 and make it the same way every time. Exact amount of buds, same amount of grain, decarb bud then freeze bud for a day with grain then I add 8 ounces of grain to half cup of bud and let it do it’s thing in freezer, shaking few times a day for 3 min a time for five days. I strain them filter it in freezer to get any waxes out, then evaporate down to 2 ounces. Really puzzled because Everytime I make it comes out really dark or light brown color and tastes great. This last one I made came out milky looking I added a tiny bit more bud but nothing new. Kinda hits ya but weird looking and not much potency for sleep usually I still feel it in morning for a couple hours, thanks
This is all great information. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Just a thought @Dboybudz - Is it possible that some water got into the tincture? 190 turns extremely cloudly if water gets in it.
@MyrtleGrounds Now that I think about it no water ever because I’m OCD about making it. But since you just mentioned this now I’m thinking it’s from maybe filtering it in freezer then taking it all out super cold and evaporate down in mason jar with fan blowing maybe condensation turn color because other Times I would just filter on table, then evaporate down so no condensation happening. Thanks for this I’ll filter on table next batch and I bet color will be what I’ve been having and liking. Awesome!
Hey @ReikoX, pardon me for replying to such an old post, but I was wondering if there is anything you can say about how the essential oils impact the scent? (and/or effect, if at all)
I have not previously encountered anyone that has looked into making the real anointing oil, Super interesting given its connection with the spiritual side of cannabis
Based on Hebrew scripture, the anointing oil was only applied to leaders in society (kings and priests), and interestingly, was put on David before his battle with Goliath
More specifically: “Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.”
There are also other instances of powerful spiritual effects which could be mentioned, but just wanted to hear more about how it is, if you wouldn’t mind sharing
The scent is lovely, reminds me of christmas. The essential oils, espccially the cinimon, give it an additional warming effect.
Nice, that does sound lovely. Have you ever tried applying this mixture directly to the head? Curious about possible effects. Apparently myrrh has an opioid effect…
Thanks for answering my question! Your work in this thread is super appreciated btw
Proofing Your Harvest with a Quick QWET Tincture
In the course of an ongoing breeding project I have often needed to quickly determine which of many phenotypes has the chemistry I’m looking for. In order to get those results I use a slimmed down tincture prep that provides a usable extraction in less than 24 hours.
Proofing provides a very quick test to see what you’ve got. It’s useful in choosing between several phenotypes or to make sure it’s worth properly drying & curing the crop. You want to do it early and fast, and perhaps at several stages enroute to your curing jars.
To be clear from the start here, this is NOT the way to create the highest quality tincture product. I’m skipping many steps that help produce a filtered, full spectrum, high potency tincture. This is not the way to treat your best weed, but it is well suited to get an early read on the character of the chems in your harvest.
Here’s the process:
- Gather up a small handful of trim, tiny useless budlets and greasy sugar leaf, junk basically. This doesn’t take much, one or two grams should be plenty.
- Do a normal decarb: 45 minutes at 245 degrees in a small Ball jar. This is the same jar that will hold the final tincture.
- Once the jar has cooled enough to touch, just barely cover the loose flower with Everclear. Give the jar a full ten minute swirl/shake then put it in deep freezer.
- Every few hours pull it out and swirl/shake it for a few minutes before returning it to the freezer. A total of six or seven shakes like that during the day seems to be enough.
- The next morning it will be ready to use. Simple and quick. (and stingy with expensive Everclear!)
You’ll notice that the volume of the herb is shrunken and there’s plenty of clear liquid. Use a long dropper and dip into the clear tincture around the edge of the jar for your test dips. This small test batch provides enough for multiple tests and recreational enjoyment.
Since none of the original alcohol has been evaporated, the tincture potency may be weak. Depending on your normal reaction to tincture, I suggest doubling or tripling your first dose. Wait half an hour and if you’re not feeling it, take another dip. You are looking for the character of the chems mostly. You can also determine the “Relative” potency between different samples by the number of droppers each takes to produce a noticeable effect.
One last note: For those of you who dislike using alcohol tinctures directly, because they “taste bad,” or burn your tounge, try this: take a shot glass full of your favorite mocha java, ideally with a nice dollop of cream, and dose it with a high quality cannabis tincture. No big taste, no burn. Easy, clean, precise and repeatable dosing… What’s not to like?
Peace Out OG!

That is an excellent idea!
I’m going to ‘play’ with that…
Cheers

Thanks for posting this @GrouchyOldMan … definitely a great way to proof your bud
I just use a medium-chain triglyceride. Nice and sweet like syrup. Very easy to infuse, and probably cheaper than 190. Maybe not in the US though.
Do Tell @THCeed, I’ve never heard of that. Do you have a link to the solvent you use?
MCT normally comes from Coconut Oil. It is a pretty good solvent. I don’t think it is as effective as ethanol, but if you don’t want the alcohol, it is one of a few options. I also use/used PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin) as I was vaping and could use it directly in my tank. Again, not as good as ethanol, but an option.
Tell us more about the vaping in the tank pretty please
Yes, I get mine by the gallon off of Amazon.
