Not Just Another Tincture Thread

Okay. Being that vape liquid is either PG, VG or a combo of both, you can heat it, add the decarbed flower and simmer for about two hours, then strain. Vape it like any other liquid.

You didnt experience waxes separating or burnt tasting coils? Did you strain warm? With what? Thank you in advance

It doesn’t have to be that hot, I think I heat the glycerin up on low until it is warm to the touch and let it simmer for an hour or so, then strain through cheese cloth or a fine wire strainer. Just make sure to stir it every so often and it won’t burn or scorch. The key is to add enough glycerin to cover the flower, stir it in and add more, until you have a more liquid consistency. Even with VG, which is thicker, as long as it is heated up it will be easy to stir and strain. As far as ratio, I can’t remember what I did, as it has been a while, but I think I posted something about two years ago that said what I used. I think it was 10g per 100ml. I will see if I still have something written down.

The other way you can do is is evaporate all of the alcohol out of the tincture, heat up the glycerin and mix the oil into it. Fast and no straining. I did this a while back, and it worked out a little stronger, though took longer as I had to wait for the evaporation.

Hey @ReikoX would this work in place of everclear

Food grade 200 proof ethanol

Going to be making a large outdoor batch of like a lb or two into rso of outdoor wanted to see if I could just buy a few gallons vs lots of everclear bottles

It works great, I use it here in Brazil. It produces a purer oil—not exactly purer, but it means that what’s left is only what’s extracted from the plant. This is pure alcohol. If you want to test it, leave a small amount of this pure ethanol on a plate or container overnight, and by the next day, it will have evaporated completely, leaving the plate dry. Here, they also use it in drinks and liquors like sake. They ferment rice and then add this ethanol, selling it as sake. I’m sharing this to let you know that this alcohol is safe to drink, even by itself.

Doesnt it get you around the liquor tax too?

Edit. Walmart?! Whoa

Yeah, no reason that shouldn’t work. Food grade is what you want. :+1::seedling:

how did that come out with the tequila?

Yea, how did it go. Did you acquire it south of the Boarder

Someone interested to discuss ethanol recovery and machines associated?
Trying to recover it but not sure which machine can do the trick.

Water distillation machine
Alchool distillation
Essential oil extraction
Reflux machine
Vaccum pump extraction

Completely lost now.
Any help or address me on the right direction very much appreciated

Thx

One I know of is the Source Turbo machine… but rather ‘spendy’
That’s for alcohol recovery for the tincture.

For distillation, I find a column still works best. Comes off at 93% (ish) ABV.

Amazing starting point.
But as you said expensive.

I am thinking on essential oil distillation?

But what i will achieve?

Don’t Do It @Rhizome!

Seriously, spend a fraction of that money on EverClear and spare yourself an expensive and aggravating maintenance hassle.

K.I.S.S, and have a happy life.

Just my $0.02,

It depends on your situation, if it easy and cheap to acquire 190 proof alcohol then you don’t need a Source turbo or same type. Here in California is hard and expensive to come by, so by reclaiming it, it will pay for itself in the long run. Just My 3 cents.
