Im starting a test trial of notill with girltime advise welcomed!
I plan on using black gold natural and organic as a base in a 10 gal pot and i kinda need help from here should i get rock minerals ?,what type of admendments should i be using ?
Minerals help buffer the soil and attract bacteria and fungi which excrete enzymes which bind to complex molecules that travel into the plant to initiate many functions vital to the plant. I like azomite and glacial rock dust with a little gypsum for additional sulfur. Some oyster shell is nice and cheap. Lotus will chime in if i missed something. Glacial dust is a mix of everything so covers a lot of bases. I think crab meal and kelp are must haves. Neem and Karanja are up there but not necessary. What have i missed @lotus710.
@Mikethephenohunter skip the black gold garbage and make your own base if youre going notill. @ryasco azomite turns into aluminum after a while in the soil. Go with basalt or glacial rock dust. Azomite is a clay. Neem is second next to kelp. Fuckin top notch forsure! @Mikethephenohunter have any plans for a mix?
Well thinking peatmoss,compost,perlite/ rice hulls for aeration
Perfect. Just use lava rock or pumice or something. Perlite floats and rice hulls break down. And pre amend the compost before mixing. I use kelp, neem, gypsum, crab meal, oyster shell powder, malted barley powder, and glacial rock dust as amendments
I’m going to run some rice hulls in next batch that I picked up at local home brew shop… have you @Mikethephenohunter picked up pointers from Minnesota nice ? I have that exact seed blend from Jeremy here in CO, very nice mix !where you from ?
Im in cali.i have watched Minnesota nice video thats what got me motivated to try notill
If you are doing notill this might be interesting to you.
That’s what I pretty much I did for my very first run ,(notill) outside the lower temps in the basement and a little more dryer than I wanted my girls performed flawless no Defs to speak of with the amendments @lotus710 spoke of you should be good ! I didn’t get cover crop in on my first run, wish I had a Little more light power when it came to flowering stage overall very pleased with the notill setup!
Thanks for the Fpj article @ryasco bookmarked!
thats actually natural farming not notill:) ill get some notill links for ya
much love
That is actually the results from various studies on knf practices. I thought they where interesting. I wasn’t trying to establish what is or isn’t notill.
I see buckwheat, clover, maybe some alfalfa. Is that fenugreek too?
No alfalfa . But yes on fenugreek
Hard to tell aflalfa seedlings from clover seedling😂 anything else you got in the mix?
No its pretty much all but there is 12 different types of cover
