The argument is whether the female plant produces pollen to self pollinate or not.
Yes and yes. Apomictic plants reproduce without fertilization, and the resulting offspring are 100% exact copies of the mom.
A single stamen that forms within a bud can easily pollinate just a single actual flower or two. Thereās a lot of surface area in a big cola as it develops. Just because you donāt see any obvious ones on the outside doesnāt mean there isnāt one in a nook or cranny you canāt see.
Iāve found a little yellow male stamen inside a dried bud before. Multiple times. Sometimes accompanying a bagseed. If itās enclosed or partially enclosed with no access to wind, that means pollen canāt go far. So you get a couple seeds instead of a couple hundred.
It didnāt āappear out of nowhereā. Females can make male flowers. Prompted and unprompted.
If you donāt like spirited discussion about weed, perhaps a weed forum isnāt the place for you.
Interesting, Iāve seen enough Jurassic Park to know that nature finds a way. So, I lean towards this being totally plausible and a fun experiment!
Possibly your right, Iām not that spirited about weed. Iām a patient that enjoys growing his own and got hooked on breeding. At this stage of my life I could be breeding Basil or Lettuce for fun and also enjoy it. So maybe your on to something, maybe this forum is not for me?
Itās just another day here. No need to take anything personal. Youāre as good a member as the rest of us. Hang in there. Sometimes we actually learn stuff in between all of the background noise. peace
Some people have succumbed to the Haternet. The go looking for wrinkles to start an argument about. I guess they feel purpose in that. Myself I appreciate the bright people on this site, there is a lot of them.
I never dreamed asking a simple question would send this thread into the Twilight Zoneā¦ sorry guys.
But also, thanks for reassuring me, a new grower, that it happens to experienced folks too.
Best wishes and thank you to all who contributed to the responses.
Debates are not necessarily argument. Not only that, but debate is often how people figure things out.
I agree!
I love a good polite debate.
But
Debates can become arguments when one or more parties engaged in the debate become disrespectful and rude.
Then the insults fly like a school yard playground.
After that the original subject matter is no longer even relevant in the conversation.
Things get completely side tracked and off topic.
A debate that stays on topic and without insult usually does help all parties involved learn one thing or another.
If your mind is open to it that isā¦
Well we donāt have enough of this sort of thing on the interwebs, so let me try thisā¦
I might have been wrong, I thought that is what I read, but without looking too far into things here.
It would seem you are right, I retractā¦LOL
Nice job by the way, I hate spreading bad info, I try never to do it.
So again statement retracted, I made a mistake.
I found one in a āSherblattiā plant and planted it. It is growing beautifully right now. Do you plant yours when you find them?
I planted the one I foundā¦ sheās growing very fast and beautiful. Iām planning to keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesnāt ājoin a boy bandā and have to be evicted from the house when older.
Ms L.E. 2 (which stands for LaGanga Estranga the Second, named for a very funny, almost always stoned drag Queen), got an upgrade on her living quarters tonight.
They grow up SO fast!!
That one question had more power than a fart in an elevator
Miss L.E. The 2nd keeps growing, getting taller every dayā¦ I am expecting to see hairs any minute and will be thrilled when I can take her to be with her sisters in the 12/12 room. Will post again next Sundayā¦ sooner if something exciting happens!
Another week, a little biggerā¦ should be flowering any minuteā¦ already have a spot set aside for her in my 12/12 room.
Canāt wait to see this flower!
