Ohio Dumpster

True, what I meant was I’m searching for something that I’ve never felt, smelled, tasted, or otherwise sensed in any way. For me personally, this is Bigfoot. Tons of people say they’ve seen it, but I still haven’t yet. Not that I’m a Bigfoot hunter LMAO just an analogy.

While we’re on the topic, though, stuff like that is the only reason why I feel like I even have a chance of tracking it down. Obviously if it doesn’t smell like lemons on top of lemons on top of lemons, it’s not the real deal. I can throw away any cuts that don’t meet that criteria. If it’s super light hungry and can’t get enough of my LEDs, that’s probably another good indicator that it’s bunk, according to Pip and seemingly most people on here. Then there’s the fact that everyone, including you, says that it tends to look like shit even though it’s great smoke. If I get into late flower with it and I have rock hard nugs that are frosted to the gills, that’s probably not the one either. Honestly, that’s what I expect to run into the most: crosses that people have done with the Lemon G to try and keep the flavor but beef up the structure/yield/light tolerance.

I’m for sure way behind, but I don’t feel like I’m starting at zero. While I don’t trust anyone wanting to sell me a cut, I do trust the intel of my fellow Ohioans who are telling me what it’s like, and everyone seems to be saying all the same things independently of one another.

When it comes to cuts i don’t trust anyone unless multiple people can verify the person being legit. You can NEVER be too careful when buying cuts due to fakes. If it seems cheap/too good to be true it most likely is!

Damn, this is a cutting remark LOL. I think “oblique” hurts the worst. “Eloquent” at least feels pretty nice. xD

I like your spunk. Sounds like you’re really excited to try some Ohio heirlooms and I totally get it because I am the same. I only ever smoked Lemon G and Deathstar, but then quickly got into Ohio’s cannabis history and other popular cuts. Been through dozens of clone only cuts. Now years later I’m just bored with with it all and going back to hunting seed which is way more exciting IMO.

I only hold these Ohio cuts for nostalgia mostly. Just smelling Lemon G brings back so many memories. I think most that had no background with it would find it pretty ‘meh’ compared to modern stuff. But the clone hunt is exciting and full of hype.

The last 12 hours I’ve thought to myself a handful of times “this might just be nostalgia, maybe there’s a reason nobody knows for sure where this shit is”. I’ve heard the Lemon G isn’t very potent, and Pip said he was never really that impressed with the Dumpster. I’m definitely gonna hunt some seeds while I look for this stuff, because that’s what I think I’ll find to be most fun as well. I gotta get these local strains outta my system, though; I’ll just never be satisfied until I’ve had them.

I have definitely run across louder lemon varieties but none with quite the same aroma and terp profile as lemon g. Lemon g is just something special to me. Its not the loudest lemon in the room nor does it have the best bud structure but it definitely holds a place in my heart and mind.

Hey schmarm, if you haven’t seen it yet then you may be interested in this post about Noodles by @jimihendrix1942. Jimi’s got some good secondhand knowledge that he’s shared in several posts. Might just require some searching for them all bc they’re across a few different threads.

Have you seen any of Copa’s crosses made with the Meig’s Gold? Seems like Copa got linked up with somebody who had access to Meig’s Gold and is working with the old line.

Thanks for posting that. I’ve seen jimi post on other sites but that was all new info to me. I’ve been talking to lots of people in Meigs about Noodles. Someone even told me there’s still an original Meigs Gold cut being kept alive around here, and they can get me in touch with them.

I’ve talked to Copa about how he got his Meigs Gold seeds from a relative of Noodles. They were so old that most didn’t sprout but the one that did was a monster female. He made some crosses with her. He sent me Meigs Gold x High Voltage and I ran them outside last year and they turned out well. I posted in the copa thread.

I thought the flowers looked similar.

I feel pretty confident in my Deathstar source since they have been a legal Metrc licensed nursery for a while and my plants look almost identical to this guys who are being validated in a 10 year old icmag post (below). Deathstar is a plant unique enough that it can be identified in veg through both scent and visual aspects (again assuming the plant I have is deathstar). Also every deathstar cross I have consumed on the MI legal market tastes a bit like the strain I have in my tent. Obviously still a chance it isnt real.

Heres that ic post and some of my plants

Not saying anything about your source or the validity of your cut but just because they are metrc licensed grower does not mean they are honest about what they are selling. I worked for one of the largest cannabis companies in the country, and they just called things whatever they wanted. Their OG Kush, White Lightning, and several other things were all renamed. If something wasn’t selling well they’d just rename it. They called things by whatever marketing told them they should call it.

I would hit the floor if these guys were caught TCing and restoring fake strains but anything is possible I supposed. Did you work in Ohio?

No I was out in California but the company I worked for has facilities in Ohio. This was a big commercial grower. Hopefully not everybody is that shady but anywhere theres money to be made theres going to be some people taking advantage of it.

Love this thread. Sad about the horror stories but it seemed to create some comradery. The internet is undefeated and it only helps the perpetrators stay perped. Hopefully the real shows up, but more so perhaps its time to create something NEW.

Is it worth making a new thread to talk about more contemporary Ohio genetics? Beyond the few breeders I already know of, I’d like to find out who else is pushing at the edges and making cool new stuff. Who do you guys like?

This thread is full of gold. FWIW my opinion would be to keep this thread going, really showoff Ohio evolution.
