It’s been beautiful weather up here cool in the morning mid 80’s afternoon.
In that direct sun thou it’s a bit more than warm then add the sand into the equation.
Fishing has been good bass, gillies, crappies and a few snakes.
Been catching most at night, couple hours before dark.
Night crawlers, minnows and slugos.
The son fixed a Brisket last night on the Traeger they let.me borrow it from work, brisket turned out awesome.
Burgars tonight Saturday night last fish fry.
We’re gonna get out yet tonight and tomorrow night.
Hopefully load up the basket a couple more times.
Avery a buddy of mines grandson was able to make it up. 14 years old
He was up last labor day and fished about the whole entire time, doing the same this time 5 am till dark.
End of June already here in the Northwoods, September gets iffy at the end.
Can’t wait for September thou.

I have a problem with new people coming on here and asking for seeds right away.
An even bigger problem with members on here being so eager to give them beans.
Not knowing who any of these people are and probably over 50% grab and leave.
Conservative figure of course, im sure its higher than that.
If they’ve bern here for at least 6 or 7 marks no problem but these dine and dashers with no history, pretty goddam ballsy.
Some on here take the OG inegma just way too fuckin far on here.

I’ve had a few dine and dash on me the way I look at it if they’d of stuck around they’d of had way more seeds than they knew what to do with .
At least a hey thanks for the seeds they showed would be a nice gesture to receive .

Ive only been here so long but I remember a time where if some one came in that early to ask for free shit we sent them off or ignored them. Now they get sent a collection problaly bigger than mine first month.
Edit and most don’t have a grow journal or are on first grow ever. Why do you need 200 strains that early in the game?!

I come to OG for certain threads anymore. A lot of people that I talked to the most were long time members that have left. Sure has changed a LOT over the last year.

It should be for members that’s been here at least a month or better with oodles of participation
Bidding against long standing members and forcing them to pay more than what they should is bullshit.

I very much see your perspective. I started out by sending out stuff from my vault that needed to preserve and I didn’t think I had the skill to do. Then put together a group run, then started asking for a few strains and doing some trading. But then I ended up with so many I’ll never be able to run them all, so I started giving them away.
If everyone has top shelf genetics, it should overall drive down market prices on everything except truly elite top 1% of 1% genetics, because it will take rarity out of the equation. There is no reason we should pay the price we do for seeds. Once it’s federally legal and the big companies like burpee get in the seed game, I fully expect to be able to go to the garden store and get 25 packs of east coast sour diesel, or blue dream, or whatever lineage for $5. A single plant can make thousands upon thousands of seeds if it’s big enough, and to not expect it to be commercialized by conglomerates with a cheap consistent middle of the road product at light speed is ludicrous. That’s half the reason I like passing them out. I can help drive down prices.

Yep, I’m kinda agreeing more and more. That’s why I watch and laugh and chat on the free seed thread, but don’t send out too much from it now.
I’m going to do 3 giveaways a year, try and draw new traffic, other people then run auctions and things to gather server funds. I see it as a cycle that will grow OG.

Well here’s the next question why do we feel the need to grow?
Certainly not for genetic reasons, most aint gonna get to half the shit they got now by the time they die or get laid up.
Servers getting taken care of that’s the main and only concern and there should be a surplus.
Judging by the auctions we do.
Where’s the surplus going anybody know?
Shouldn’t need any more of these for another year.

I am all for getting seeds to all growers but have to agree with your points here. More and more I scratch my head seeing people pop up on their first post like a pan handler. No hello, no nice to meet you, just “you got some free seeds for me?” I must admit that annoys me some. My parents didnt raise me to be able to walk into a room of strangers and ask for handouts.

The reason I personally do auctions/lotteries and give aways is to get my seed count down.
I go on spending binges and have a bad seed addiction, but trying to chill on it, but have amassed more strains than I can ever grow, so instead of having them go bad in my fridge from never getting to them, I put them up for auctions and whatnot, because I don’t feel right pocketing the cash, even though everything I put up is either bought or traded for with bought seeds. So someone should benefit from it, why not the site.
But in saying that…I do agree, the site I would have to say is pretty flush…I think the surplus should go into giveaways for members, like lights, nutes or something of that nature.
