Oleskool’s shitkicker grow show

[quote=“MomOnTheRun, post:1273, topic:12434”]
Thats what Bodhi said…these f2’s went 13 wks for me

13 weeks! Well that would explain it.

Howdy @MomOnTheRun! Thanks. Missed you. I thought I said something to piss you off at me! All love and respect.
Why do I get these nitrogen Toxicity problems late in flower? How much should I cut back on MegaCrop late n flower? The medium does get dry in this hear. Help!

I use 5gr/gal throughout

Tweeking the Oleskool Shitkicker Tent Cooler and have made progress. It definitely makes a difference in temperature inside the tent. I haven’t nailed it down yet but it seems to bring temps down by as much as 7 degrees. It’s a balance with exhaust. When first turned on the tent blows up like a Michelin Man. I have to try and not immediately vent out the cooler air but still maintain negative pressure. The best fuel so far is dry ice and frozen water bottles. 3.5 to 4 hours of cooling then it’s done. It’s a journey with Texas Heat not a destination.

Curious if you give your plants Nitrogen in flower. Notice usually your plants are very green at harvest. Think you’ll find a sweeter smoother smoke with dialed back Nitrogen in 12/12.

Loving all the new material. Only good thing about being gone for a while… tons of new posts!

Awwweee no way! Just my busy time so not a lot of interaction unless I see something that needs addressed though most of the time I lurk and skim thru to keep myself updated from June thru September

I really don’t know…people say Megacrop has a lot of nitrogen in it though my guess is the soil is just getting too dry for the roots for some strains so they show ph issues when there really is none then when the soil is rehydrated again they get more nutrients than they want/can handle at that moment.

Hey bro @Swampthing! I posted the same question to @MomOnTheRun recently. I’m using MegaCrop at 5gr gallon throughout the run. That I assume is the main source of nitrogen. I cut back MegaCrop last run by 50% in late flower. Started cutting back about week 6 or so and they looked hungry and “puny”. I would welcome your thoughts on this please. All love bro…

I personally stop feeding N at the start of week 3 of flower. In my opinion they need N in their 1st 2 weeks of the stretch.

JMHO

Yea… using the megacrop V1 and soil I noticed N does stay pretty heavy… the V2 Megacrop is better on that and has the added calcium for the lack of having enough in the first version… but since o switched to coco with megacrop I have neither had the dark leaf N issue not have I added a drop of calmag or Epsom salt… Luck maybe lol

Still looking good old man!

Thanks. That sounds reasonable. I made the switch from Happy Frog to Coco recently and the first coco run is in flower now. I’m curious to see what happens. Should I cut out the MegaCrop completely at week 4 or so? Or reduce the amount at some point? Thanks for your time…nuttn’ but love Ma…

I would cut back the mega crop big time in flower.

Have you ever considered Pure Blend? I think you would be pleasantly surprised with the quality increase using their Pure Blend Pro Bloom and Grow formulas. In fact, I’ve seen a pretty reasonable kit selling the whole pack of PBP Bloom Grow and Liquid Karma together. That was my go to when I really didn’t wanna fiddle with making my own soil and teas and all that jazz.
A Coco medium using pure blend lines I’ve seen fantastic results and I know a lot of “professional” growers that use it pretty much exclusively and grow some top knotch kind.
I think once you draw back the N and give them some good P and K you’ll end up with much better yields of some much smoother tastier smoke.

Wish I had told ya sooner… had noticed the excess N but sometimes I hold my tongue bc I don’t like to come across as critical.

All the best brother

Talk soon

I wouldn’t cut it out completely though would cut back a bit. Iirc, when I used the V1 Megacrop the most I used was 3grams per feeding

Thanks @Swampthing. I will definitely look into the Pure Blend. With a recommendation like that I would be foolish not to. I just spent $100 on nutes yesterday. Summer is still a bitch. I’ve made significant strides in dealing with it but some days it overwhelms all of my efforts. Today for example I had 100 degrees in a cpl of tents. Adding some silica to the mix seems to help some. Batteries about to die. Well take this up later. Thank you and don’t worry about being critical. I like critiques and sometimes I even change what I do because of it. Lol. Later brother…

rice hulls are made of silica, if you water through them you’re probably getting some :+1:

Kool. Didn’t know this. I started feeding a silica product. Seems to make a difference. I am in the middle of a transition from Happy Frog to coco. I have one flower tent at week 7 in H.F. and the other flower tent at week 2 in coco. Happy Frog Tent is HPS, other is LED. I love my oleskool HPS but LED sure makes it easier to manage heat. Anyway, I gotta say, your Huckleberry Cookies just stands up and says “fuck you” to the heat. “I’m movin’ on.” Lol

Hi @oleskool830.
I see your crater lake is in a rocket pot. I don’t think I’ve noticed you using them before? How are you feeling about them?
I can see another up on the wall there, so maybe you’ve used them for awhile and I just missed it? Just sniffing for opinions as I’ll be using something similar this coming outdoor season.

Hey @Jay. I’ve used the airpots for about a year. I bought 2 - 3 gal pots and some smaller ones for veg. They are expensive. I can say that the growth in them is accelerated compared to nursery pots. Root balls from airpots are big and thick unlike nursery pots. Hand watering has to be a little slower or you can lose nutes by excessive runoff out the side holes. I like them and would have more if they weren’t so cost prohibitive. Have a beautiful day @Jay
