On the hunt for some moms

Yes I know I totally misread solowolfs comment . I do bone head stuff sometimes.
Im not sure why but . I will snap a pic and show you .My plants have already grew as much as they would have in 4 weeks as they have in 4 days with my d/e mh. Like I wrote , I dont know much about led I may have been doing it wrong ( not sure how )but they weren’t doing it for me. I have thousands of dollars of led here believe me I would love for them to work . I would love the savings promised. I will try again.
That test was done with every plants receiving the exact same par levels. Thats what got my attention. If par is all that matters , why would the bulb that has the most wasted light grow the larger plant.

I was thinking I may need to run my led closer. I had them at about 28 inches . This what most manufacturer recommend for seedlings.
I mean I’ve always have put seedlings right into full light intensity. The sun doesn’t dim down or move like you wrote.
I lost a bunch of plants to root rot this summer. I would love to get these led working.
Right now I’m running a total of 3000w 1000 in veg 2 in flower . I’m hopping to cut that down to 1800 if I have to stay with hid lighting. 600/1200. But at the end of the day it’s what ever preforms the best for me .
Has any one looked at the micromole led put out. 1100w double ended hps puts out 2100 umol . I wonder how much led it takes to match them. Spider farmer 2000 puts out a max of 988 with an average of high 500 umol. The 4000 umol is 1217. And 75000 lumens.

This is where I get lost. Spider Farmer advertises the 4000 at 2479 umol at 12”. Or am I just reading this wrong?

Not trying to argue, just trying to understand.

Thats thier max value in that one spot . This what thier specs say. Now I can take my lumen gauge and get it to read over it’s max that’s it’s able to read 220,000 or something like that . I would say that’s what it actually puts out
Are we even able to run our lights that close ? I was told it bleaches them.
I personally would like to see real world data between the two because frankly I don’t believe either manufacturer.

I am a new grower, so I don’t have the experience of many here. But when I bought my light I was told anywhere from 18” to 8”. I am running a Sol-Strip led.

Don’t look to me . I have no experience with led I’m learning with all of you.
I think the lower wattage led do go closer . I know they do. I have a 9w booster bar physically ol top of a dark corner with no I’ll effect.
I also wonder how many inches that 2100 umol for the eye hortilux was taken at. I think par isn’t the whole argument either , spectrum and environment play a huge role.
I think part my problem is my environment is built for high heat hids.
It’s all a learning curve.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy a par meter soon.

That is def on my list. The apps for your phone are junk.

Ya phone apps won’t work and the gauge aren’t cheap. Wish they did but rarely does you phone measure anything precisely besides you wear abouts.
I think once I get my seedlings eastablished I’m going to give it a shot again. I had piss poor result’s.

The key word un that sentence is advertises.

Most certainly you can run the lower wattage lights that close. I’ve had leaves touching the diodes when in full veg. I’ve had buds up to a few inches from the diodes without bleaching. My COBs on the other hand have fried more than a few buds.

Exactly this! First with LEDs, leaf surface temperature is much closer to ambient room temperature. HIDs put off a lot of energy in the form of radiant heat. VPD is also much more important when using LEDs.

I had the weirdest shit happen. I took a male out the flower room tried to catch pollen I had a clone in veg. That male made a plant in veg make seeds but only one pheno of one strain. Multiple clones did the same thing. WHAT?!

Love the verigation in the first pic, what strain Hugh?

Nice work…Weird that only one pheno self switched, maybe a auto reaction to the contamination kicked it in flower.

I didnt start flowering per say its pistols took pollen and made seeds. The last pictures I posted where my (first 4 ) purple urkle s1 and trainreck s1. The plant still hasnt flowered.
I think you’re talking about the pic with my back to the camera. Those are white widow , la nina , purple urkle , train wreck and jack herer.

Day ten with the 1000w d/e I notice a huge difference between it and the led.
I need to rethink how I use them I believe .

Week six Black widow aka white widow is really piling on the resin .

Some more pictures I took today through my new grow room glasses . They make it so everything isn’t orange . This white widow is nice . I need to use the better camera . Some of these buds look like nerds piling on top of each other it’s pretty awesome.

Split the flower room in half I’m going to attempt to try a sea of green . With two 50gal aeroponic bins with 3" net pots spaced 4 .5 weeks apart. Im also using solistek a splitter @1100w on my double ended solistek ballast with running two DE solistek 600w 4k full spectrum bulbs with two solistek open hoods. To get nice cool air I’ve ducted the outside air in 4" ducting with a small pusher and 8" exhaust . The 40 degree air and two open hoods do great keeping the room right at 72 during the day with a small pusher . If I want to drop temps more I can run the setup at nice ducting in much colder air or get a better intake fan.
Grabbed a bunch new clone only strains. Along with my seeds . I’m hopping I can run larger amounts with a change in the setup.
Here a pic of my purple urkle s1 . With a pic of my harvest drying . The flower still needs to be trimmed
Clone , pre veg ,veg , bud , light spectrum flower room .
