hi @Instg8ter – i’ve been enjoying reading your posts over the past months. takes me a minute to warm up to people sometimes–but i think you and i could get along

seems like we live in same area. a friend came down from his hill after many decades to finally retire. must have done something good in a past life because he passed us his lovingly preserved pure Skunk #1. In addition to (obviously) keeping that line, my friend is crossing his BP (and some of the BP’s parentage) to it. We’re really getting into these lemons too (Candied Lemon and others). I think we should have some fun–if you’re up for it. Seems like we’re pulling in the same direction. Messaging you now.

Sounds like a plan , me and @monkeyman have started working the GLG Brutal Paw back to the Original Monkey Paw from the 70’s. Right now we are searching a Sativa leaner from the Chunked up BP, ( I also worked a bit with BP - Black Pearl from Mr. Natural that’s why I spell out.) He has acquired a cut only that is said to be original. I also have a line in Mid MI that is purportedly reversing and doing seed run of original cut. This Strain is MY Unicorn, I’m sure it’s a BIG part of the Brutal Paw, taste and bag appeal is all there just not as much Trip bud as I remember. Then again my tolerance is through the roof with a 30% er GG4-JW being my daily pain med.

What part of the mitten you in? Me and Monkey have talked about trying to get an MI harvest party going next season once this Covid is knocked down.

Feel free to PM me anytime, hang out mostly in Landrace and free seed threads

My journals at ‘Welcome to the jungle’ and I’m doing a 3-way chocolate thai preservation that you can still get on the list for (March release hopefully).

And yes that Skunk1 is the one ingredient that I don’t have a true cut of, every “Skunk” I’ve grown has been a disappointment, I hadn’t realized how watered down and sweetened the genetics had gotten. Best skunk so far is an Exodus Cheese (UK) and a gifted Green Goblin (RKS bx x Green Lantern x White Widow , more KGB thank RKS to me but I bet there some real STINKERS in those beans.

love a good plan
i got our locations wrong. saw arcata in one of your posts, which made me think you were in humboldt like me. but i love MI. some of my best friends in the world are from Ann Arbor and Lansing. and we love throwing parties–gotten pretty good at it actually. especially harvest parties.
of course that 3-way chocolate thai caught my eye immediately. glad that’s you and glad i can still get on the list (appreciate it!)
30%–wow. that’s probably sufficient to dull the psychedelia (lol). i’m a pain patient too by the way. so i feel ya–literally. pain sucks.

keep the faith everyone. don’t stop looking. unicorns do exist…

love a good plan

results of this little mini-hunt weren’t great–but running only a half dozen genotypes from those genomes doesn’t mean much. i did really like the taste of the Candied Lemon–i’m now an official lemon fan. but there’s better phenos of that taste out there than my four little female seeds gave me (lol).

can you even call it a pheno hunt with so few? (lmao)

Yield is no problem, I’m more of a strain collector and preserver now, used to run commercial When MI first went legal, Wild, Wild West time.

Have a nice Bodhi Acapulco Gold pure, need a nice Skunk1 and will be running a number of Columbian Golds in the x-mas Mexican/SA co-op run coming up in the Landrace thread.

I would love to spread some crosses of the Brutal Paw (Michigan Monkey Paw) for you to spread some of the love on the Left Coast. No a big producer in current (Tom hill deep chunk) Dutched form but once you taste the floral opium taste of the dense buds you’ll be hooked. Almost every person I’ve polled that’s had the Original puts it top 10 On their list. It’s one that’s been closely held and hoarded. Have had two dispensary grows of what was claimed to be it and not even close. Brutal Paw came from GLG and an off seed company that I can find no info on. Taste and look wise it’s in these seeds, thinking a bx of the two Sativas will start pushing it back there.

this is exciting. we’d love to get Skunk #1 genes back into the world–now that the plant has in fact overgrown the government (didn’t think it would get much past a bumper sticker–i’m still floored at the scale of the transformation), it will go far and wide. some will know to keep moms. some will not. and that’s just fine. because enough of us will keep moms. like our lives depend on it. cuz they do.

i’ve never actually smoked Monkey Paw. but i remember it being MI’s crown jewel. we would be deeply grateful. if you want it spread, we’ll get it into other very grateful hands. if you have other preferences, they will of course be fiercely respected.

yield is a big factor for me in some projects. i could give a shit less about yield in other projects. :yum:

rec is still wild wild west imo. too wild for this chick. in oregon, we can be outside because land is cheap and it doesn’t usually burn every year, so it can stay within medical limits (24, with various zoning restrictions on how many licenses per land parcels). in california, there’s a grower’s exemption you can get from your doctor to do 99 when you can document your medical need for large amounts (no problem on that one for me). one medical license per person–not per structure. love california.

That would be wonderful, for sure it will be saved and passed on to people who wil respect and perpetuate the dank ness that is SKUNK1.

I’ve been curious of this myself I have some plants in veg I wouldn’t mind swabbing before flip

I was just talking about this in another thread. Wasn’t sure where I read this, but it wasn’t from this. I’ve read If the preflowers show white hairs, they are viable and can make seeds. I was thinking about trying this, using mother plants to make a few individual seeds to test before dedicating a run with that pair.

I’m hitting a branch of my MACslurry mother with PPP pollen tomorrow morning. Gonna see where I’m going from there.

So the new light is kick ass. It’s hard to tell the difference in yeild because I vegged my last plants the mom’s of these clones for the whole summer and only did 4 weeks this time. I also went from 2000w 1 de 1 se to two 600w De. With out a doubt resin production is allot better. Here we are Sunday was 4 weeks and the fan leaves are covered in trikes on some of the plants and all the buds are very sticky. Here some shots of my urkle keeper.
I will be flowering my cat piss x tk back to cookies slurricane ecsd purple mac coked out girl scout and gg4 x gsc in the coming weeks

Should be smelling like a banana laffy taffy dipped in diesel pretty soon!

I hope so. I hope it makes the cut ! I have it next to gmo , ecsd , stardawg breeders cut , jack herer phinest cut of suluricane , purple urkle , trainwreck and my b grade cut of widow. I’m actually phasing out this cut of white widow and keeping just one .
Slurricanes fan leafs already have trichome production looks like it’s going to be great.
I have to start getting rid of strains I have to many but want to pop more seeds.

Don’t let any one tell you fungus gnats won’t hurt your crop , in dirt maybe but they love eating nesting in moist root zones in hydro. I opened my reservoir and they were having a grand ole time chomping down on my roots. I noticed when all my pistols turned brown 4 weeks in flower and leaves were dying rapidly. I grabbed some mosquito dunks that killed them but the damage was done. That was a month ago. I wonder if my harvest will take longer . This is week 8 today. Look in the background to see the damage.
