The soil it’s in i have been using for like 5+ years for growing vegetables. Its nice and rich under the top layer, but still just having fun with it.

The runt of the two is starting to catch up.

Planted some marigolds all over the place because they give off a strong scent that repels pests. So far so good. They repel aphids, whiteflies, squash bugs, nematodes, mosquitos, thrips, and a couple other insects.

Other plants that repel insects: basil, lavender, rosemary, mint, marigolds, and chrysanthemums.

Basil: repels flies, mosquitos, and whiteflies.

Lavender: repels moths, fleas, flies, and mosquitos.

Rosemary: repels cabbage moths, carrot flies, and bean beetles.

Mint: repels aphids, cabbage moths, flea beetles, and ants.

Marigolds: repels nematodes, whiteflies, thrips, and bean beetles.

Chrysanthemums: contains pyrethrum a natural insecticide. Repels ticks, fleas, roaches, ants, and bedbugs.

Other repelling plants:
Lemongrass
Catnip
Garlic
Chives
Petunias
Borage
Dill
