I have a newish address and have been getting envelopes in my mailbox requesting additional postage before they will deliver a letter containing a flip, or two flips of seeds in a hose washer. Today was the third time. None of the envelopes were torn or damaged in any way.
I’m tempted to put a note in with the requested funds (this time $0.78) asking for it to stop and explaining that a thin, lightweight, flexible piece of rubber only requires a forever stamp but…
I dont want to draw attention, or have to speak with anyone (or make enemies of the postal employee responsible). It does drive me a little nuts each time it happens though. It looks like a trend that will continue.
Technically envelopes with flips are non machinable as they don’t “bend” the same way regular paper does. A mix of luck and packing will keep them from getting flagged for extra postage.
Personally I would just ask the people sending you stuff to use two stamps because your post office is extra stringent.
Do you really want your post office master or mail carrier to be like “wtf is with this dude and his sketchy mail shit arguing about 49 cents?”
To be 100% honest, it depends on the worker. Some will be noisy looking for money to steal and look for seeds/destroy them. I have had letters turn open and letters of seeds smashed with a hammer/stomped on with hammer marks/shoe marks. I have also had a letter sent in the MOST sketch/flagged way possible that went through customs. Everything about it was flagged, the letter was too thick because it was sent inside cardboard, it had no return info and only the senders address on it aswell as tracked/required signature. I wasn’t home and missed it, i got the paper thinking “a controlled delivery for seeds?” So i said f it, i’m not getting arrested over seeds. Days later coincidently it happened again(completely unrelated) so i said f it, i’ll see if i can still get it. So i called the post office at opening which was just in time. They said they will drop them off, i filled out the papers/left it in the mailbox and got the seeds. It literally never got opened at customs, sat at the post office for around a week and NEVER been opened/destroyed and my seeds were 100% safe when i got them.
Yeah the post office is supposed to charge extra for anything but flat paper and it only counts as a letter if it’s under 1/4". Also if it is over 1oz there is an extra ounce charge too. Sending an envelope with 2 stamps should cover enough to send most cards, otherwise you are just hoping the workers don’t care to charge more, which is not always the case
The mail has become an unreliable criminalistic system… what we need is to hold postal service responsible for these things and force them to do better, like, surveil these fuckheads already!

My wife called the post master general or something when our mailman was just dropping our mail in our yard or cramming shit into our mailbox sideways. Im not sure what happened at the office but that shit was somebodies ass. For like a month it looked like our mail was starched and pressed before it was neatly placed into our mail box.

For sure thats who to call, they just busted postal people around here for stealing money out of envelopes… things are starting to tighten up w the mail i think… but they still need to do better … should be a cam situation for each worker to ensure this shit doesn’t happen… @Indicana_Jones

Hah. stuffin 3 vac sealed ps into a large flat rate box & they sayin it bulges and that won’t be considered flat rate but they let it slide that time. Now be sitting on them boxes making em shape pushin the bulge in lmao. But now learned to shape the ps while vac sealing so it fits like bricks - No cardboard left all tape, so they can’t break open
Perfect blend for those typa postal workers with no questions - label maker addresses from “Anna’s Collectables” or something realistic - 30+ rolls of hdx tape at all times - regular Cali ps no one gaf bout the tight seal long as it ain’t too vacuumed

Oh & also weed seeds are legal bro u can definitely say something your not sending ps. And even for sending ps if it gets taken the postal workers smoke it. Nothing else. It’s even claimable on insurance NFA
Nowadays I feel like postal prices are robbery in general so I treat postal shit with respect and do it correctly because it’s teleportation frequency but it needs gas fee, it’s just motivation to do postal better and do what you do better so it’s worth doing
And it’s also about getting the most bang for your buck so I would put a many seed packs as possible if their charging 2 stamps bro make it worth it. I’ve heard of someone sending 5 like that
Some offices are bad, thankfully the ones on our end are good. I always go inside for piece of mind so i know it’s in without issues rather then leaving in it the mailbox or drop off box.
