Been looking at these for a minute. Have to get off the hid ride i am on.

I am on it too, but my quality and yields are very good, hate to start the learning curve over again, but it is certainly coming. Still, when I visit the big for profit grow houses, they are using big HPS DE lamps, at least in Colorado .

Exactly how I feel. I just got back into growing and have been relatively successful with my HIDs. But just like u I know changing to LED is inevitable .

Why I am asking the grower here. He seems smart and anal enough to have done his homework on these lights.
His work is good, do not see him venturing off into uncharted waters without a bunch of gained knowledge behind him.

To be honest I didnā€™t do as much homework as most people do. Iā€™m not a very tech minded person and the led world confuses the shit out of me. No DIY for me in this department. I canā€™t even tell you the type of diode used in these, all I know is they are regarded as top of the line. Samsung lm301 or something. ā€¦ buuuuuuut I have been eyeing up LEDā€™s for years and have done just enough research to make an informed purchase.

The major reason I went with LED is because 2 of my ballasts died last year and one of them died this year and the last one is on itā€™s way out so I figured if Iā€™m spending again I might as well go with LED instead of HPS since the technology is finally well surpassed HID.

Iā€™ll get some closer pictures for you when the lights kick on. They are pretty sweet though. The pucks are set into a U Channel and they can slide back and forth along the channels so you can adjust the light spread. Pretty sweet feature. Also very minimal cordage coming out of there. Just 1 for the potentiometer and 1 for the powercord. Nice and clean and easy to manage the cables.

From my research my purchase choice came down to 3 options because I live in Canada for ease of shipping purposes and ease of return in the event I needed to. HLG Canada, RapidLED Canada or BCBlondes. Out of the 3 RapidLED offered the most diodes(most light) for the best price shipped from within Canada and paid in canuck bucks.

I have not pulled the trigger because it is too confusing, and have several in their prime HPS set ups. I will not be buying new bulbs for them, so as the bulbs dim, I will have to get serious. I have a good dozen or more runs left in my lights, so maybe 2 years down the road I will do as you just did.

You have 4 of them in there??? Still supplementing with HPS ???

I hear you on the confusing. Thereā€™s so many types of led grow lights out there and they are not all created equally. Far from it. Basically from my research you want to look into a HLG 550 from Horticultural Lighting Group or the same lights I bought if you want top of the line for current tech. There are a couple other units out there, some using strips but I forget the brand but they all use the same diodes as far as I know. They are just mounted differently. Some on a large board, some on small pucks, some on 2-4 ft strips.

Here ya go @SnidleyWhiplash

The pucks and the driver can all slide back and forth in the channel. They are temporarily held in place with zip ties for shipping purposes I believe. I havenā€™t bothered or felt the need to move them yet so I just left them on.

Really nice. When you put the net on at this point in flowering do you kinda mash them under it or just set it near the tops?

I think just set it near the tops just so they donā€™t start flopping over in late flower. Maybe 2/3 or 3/4 of the way up.

Good trick. Iā€™ve been trying to think of an easy way to do scrog without having to tie up the whole room vegging them into the screen.

Glad backing off the light helped. :+1::seedling:

Hereā€™s the barefoot doctor scrog. Itā€™s day 46 I believe. They took a bit of a beating but I think they will make the finish line no problem. I know itā€™s only been a couple days and thereā€™s not a whole lot of visible change but I can just tell she is happier, not getting absolutely hammered with photons like she was before. I can just tell lol. She has a very interesting smell I canā€™t put my finger on.

pretty interesting lots of the buds that were under the HPS are a bit pointier than the ones that werenā€™t. You can see in the last pic.

Oh yea I didnā€™t do the day 42 defol because there is just too much floppage happening. Thatā€™s a recipe for disaster. I donā€™t want nugs laying directly onto other nugs. The remaining leaves are kind of keeping them separated a little bit.

I didnā€™t think I would need to add a 2nd layer but even if I put one up 4" to 6" would have probably helped a bunch.

Appears more SOG than SCROG. Should have put the 2nd net in, now your sol, lol.

Yeah lol live and learn. Now I know for next time. Iā€™ll definitely be doing this technique more in the future.

I went to town on the Caramel Candy Kush momma. She was a disaster waiting to happen. Iā€™m actually surprised I didnā€™t find any spider mites in there lol.

This is what she looked like 12 days ago so you can imagine it was even worse.
