I got another one it’s not the pro series.
I still have a couple of Hannah pH meters. I just didn’t wanna buy all the other accessories with that. I’ll try to run those other two out make sure they’re working correctly. Just a little bit too expensive. I use pH perfect anyway so it doesn’t have to be that accurate.
Hey, I use a cheap pen and test strips, We don’t have to have 100% accuracy to the .00 ballpark is close enough and strips give that. Cheap amzon pen $20 comes with a ppm meter, Test strips $10 lasts for ever always accurate
I swear by drops.
Whenever I use the strips (the wide range) I have a persistent feeling I have some sort of colour blindness and quite can’t match up the strip to the colour.
I’ve been using Hannah for the past five years. Very reliable. I actually like that infinity. I have one of the cheaper versions that one is the pro. Very easy to operate.
When I first started growing inside, that’s what I used. We had well water. The water was hard couldn’t ever get an accurate reading. That is why I’ve always used pH perfect. Also fox farm but I would mix. I like the meters they’re fast especially when you’re mixing up 10 to 20 gallons at one time. To be honest with you, I know exactly how much pH down to use in my mixer because I’ve done it so much. And I want PH up unless it’s just plain water. If my mixture is so strong that I got the pH up I just add more water. I only pH one way and that is down and never up. And to be honest with you when I’m using just playing water, I add some kind of nutrients to it to drop the pH instead of adding pH up or down. Molasses.
The new pro kit that I got was like $79 comes with the calibration and stuff like that which you can get the universal kind. I like to make sure that I’m getting the most out of my nutrients. I usually pH between 5.5 and 6.3. Preferably I try to mix everything between those numbers.
It’s not a bad kit. I see some that are cheaper, but by the time you add all the calibration stuff and ends up being a little bit more. Plus it comes with a warranty and that’s what I like. The one Hannah pH meter was two years old. They took it back and gave me a new one. I have three of them a couple are a little slow. I like to see that number pop up as fast as possible.
I’m on well water and I don’t ph my nutes…ever…water & nutes- feed plants. I use Promix type soils that don’t need ph adjustments. There are enough buffers in the soil that the ph stays stable mid 6’s I use General Hydroponics 3 part + 3-4 more of their additives.
It took me a little time but I figured out shining a light down on to a sheet of white paper and using that as the backdrop to judge the colour of the ph drops gave me great results.
Just my .02 but after having many Hanna, Bluelab, multiple white label…the best, most reliable ph meters are the Pinpoint series from American Marine. I’ll never buy another brand
All meters fall out of calibration… so how to know when it is right? Just calibrate the shit out of it etc… that calibration solution is a money grab as well…
I find myself using drops to make sure anyway… finally concluded the pens were extra money for zero reason, especially when having to using drops to make for sure for sure…
