That’s a stout frame… Way to go on the free score… I made one from a carport frame that the wind caught and blew around a neighbors field. took the best sections and fit into a old 12x12 dog pen…

Starters, Wiggle wire on the pipe side will hold plastic or tarp in strong winds - Amazon.com: VEVOR Greenhouse Spring Wire and Lock Channel 20 Packs, 6.56 ft PE Coated Aluminum Alloy Bundle Kit, Plastic Poly Film or Shade Cloth Attachment w/Screws, Silver : Industrial & Scientific

If u want to add 2x4 2x6 or what ever across side, regular fence post straps hold it in place… get the right size ones for yours - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-3-8-in-Galvanized-Steel-Chain-Link-Fence-Tension-Band-for-Fence-Rail-328522EB/312373166?MERCH=REC-_-pip_alternatives-_-204510250-_-312373166-_-N&

Third, get some concrete anchor j bolts, drill holes thru base pipe for said bolt to go thru… sit frame on top of concrete blocks holes up, add anchor bolt, fill concrete block up with fresh mixed bagged concrete, let set, now your bottom heavy for winds… and can unscrew base for easy moving…

welcome to the club

bahahaha! notes.

Toronto is infamous for racoons. There was “MAMA”, which was a fat rolly-poley of a breeding mom for over 5 years would visit the yard. She raised her kids in a rotted shed a few houses down. We haven’t seen her all spring so we think she’s either passed away or someone called 311 on them like a narc asshole.

This is more of a T.Dot Coon vibe; which is documentation of a T.dotCoon that went viral.

Also this is how much we are desensitized to these little violence cuddlers.

It keeps going and a city councillor joined in via Twitter

Amazing setup @Trickster !!!

:star_struck:

Thanks for all those tips! Instead of bolting it to the floor I have a stupid amount of bricks on the bottom bars which I installed as the base. I’ve tried shaking it around and it’s not going anywhere.

If I do install a solid (non perforated) roof I will bolt it down but right now the 50% shade allows for airflow so I have no vertical lifting even during crazy winds (As tested during a surprise April thunderstorm a few days ago.

For the wood I’m going to get long sections of cedar from trees I have to address in a property up north for my sister. I get the wood, she gets the work done and provides me coffee and food.

I’m scrolling marketplace for 4x4 cement post blocks as I’ll need about 5-6 of them for the planned build on the deck.

For the build in the beds area I’ll augur a hole, add stones and make sure the base of the logs are burned well. I shit you not I found a manual auger on the curb 5 years ago and it’s been stupidly helpful! It’s what I used to dig the post holes for our arbour which has the same Holes + stones + anythng below ground = burned black.

This makes me think of when I lived at an old farmhouse a few years ago. I had a coon that I would feed every night and we became good friends. I ended up naming it Walter, and I swear it would come to his name, lol. One day when I went to feed Walter, she stood up on her hind legs and had 10 big teets hanging off of her. Within about a week she brought her five babies over to visit and meet me. Three of them come right up to me like I was part of the family, the other two were Leery and stayed off to the side. Then when I moved, everybody asked what was going to happen to Walter.

It’s so much colder than a few days ago it’s frustrating! Regardless I still took some shots of the yard as the sky darkened cause it’s gonna be a cold steady rain until tomorrow soon.

Also the black metal gnomes are out so all is well!

The apple tree is waking up in the front yard as are the other front yard plants.

Mugwort:

Yarrow:

Wormwood:

Honeysuckle:

Heading to the backyard the bleeding hearts are waking up.

The canes I transplanted are holding up.

I need to get more white clover seed which i use to patch any dead spots like these 2 from the removed/moved 30 gallon fabric pots.

I’m gonna use this 10x20 space for to-do work on grass and to play Kubb. If you’re asking “What is Kubb?” then this is for you.

Rhubarb is coming in and I need to add black earth and amend a bit. Prob chicken poop pellets.

Asparagus is starting up as well.

At the pond I gotta share these wonderful common bittercress that always pop up specifically for in this part of the yard since I was a child.

The Pagoda Dogwood is doing well after transplanting.

The birds keep fighting over the bubbler so I did this in hopes of stopping their bickering.

During this entire time Heathcliff followed us around like a cat-dog.

But as we went in he decided to go get cozy and made buiscuits in one of his many beds.

Meanwhile Tiger never left the heated house as he’s more of a “Fuck this cold” cat.

Now I gotta go do some errands and get most of the 420 POTM winner letters out and on their way!

:v:

Looks like rain here isn’t going to be until this evening, but it sure looks like you’re going to get it a lot worse than me.

You are a lucky man in more ways than one brother.

As a young teenager, I used to coon hunt and trap a lot. I have seen old, half dead coons kick the shit out of a young healthy " Bluetick" hound dog. One winter night I stepped outside to piss off the porch and I when came back in they asked me how cold it was outside. I said " I don’t know" so I turned on the outside light and looked at the thermometer on the porch. There was a huge old coon the size of a dog standing right there. I must have been standing right beside him but couldn’t see him in the dark. I bet that freaked him out. ha ha ha.

In my early twenties I also did a lot of coon hunting with the dogs at night. Our best dog was a Walker, but we also had a Blue Tick a Black and Tan a Red Tick and probably a few others along the way. We sure had some close calls getting in there like you say, sometimes trying to free a dog from a coon locked on. Certainly some scary moments, but lucky for us nobody ever got bit. One time, when the Coon was coming at me, I was backing up as fast as I could, hit a tree on the ground and went down on my back. The Coon was just about to get me and the Walker come flying at him and took him right out of the air above me, that was probably the closest call.
