Two czech guys created really great startup that uses Machine Learning (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms to identify plant species… (From technical standpoint they use image-recognition software TensorFlow and Inception v3 over their own tailored dataset.)

They also have Android and iOS app: http://www.flowerchecker.com … This app works differently. It is not machine learning automated software, but phone app actually sends photo to botanist for identification. As I understand it, it also helps to create big dataset for plant.id to train artificial intelligence.

It’s kind of slow off the get go, but then again my boy is hogging playing xbox… Haven’t gotten it to load fully.

I got only one chance, I was going to upload a bunch.

It got it right. I loaded the prickly pear cactus and got this Opuntia stricta.

Got it to work after everyone went to bed. Tried it with the X18 flower top shot and was told it was sativa. It’s a landrace indica cross. Need to try it with some flower shots.

I think according to the current mindset all Cannabis is classified as sativa, and the indica, sativa, ruderalis titles aren’t considered separate.

I had the idea for this app like 6 years ago… They always told me I should chase my dreams… Haha

i think it’d be awesome if there was an option to enter a picture by URL instead of only upload pic/take pic, also i can’t figure out how to upload a second picture… going back to the homepage only shows one option now “See your identification” - i have to delete my cache or cookies or whatever to try again.

i tried a picture of @Calyxander ‘coleus’ - not sure if its the same thing

Works really well. First thing I did is head out the back to where my outdoor bag seeds are growing and used it to identify the girls neighbours. I also took a picture of the girls and it identified them as what they are. If an app could be developed that could identify strains would be awsome.
