Nothing, that’s the problem.
I have been trying to tell people on various forums the last decades that this is a major problem and that cannabis varieties have to be protected and be saved by people because otherwise landraces/heirlooms will go extinct and that the “breeding” that is being done is not helpful.
Nobody was interested, I was attacked, ridiculed and people like always knew everything better without having real knowledge and didn’t want to hear what I have to say.
Now the problem is even bigger and in my view hopeless.
I have worked for the German branch of UPOV and know what I am talking about, I was working with herbs and vegetables in the plant protection agency and know what is required to be a real plant variety.
I have extensive experience with various cannabis “strains” and I have not ever seen one “strain” that would make it. Lightyears away.
Everything has been turned to shit and is lost.
Don’t get me wrong, I like exploring different phenos, but they are not varieties but just plants.
Maybe clones could get a plant variety protection, but I don’t know exactly.
The “strains” currently grown are not in any way elligible for the protection as seed varieties.
That’s why I say that “breeders” have destroyed the plant and SamS and the other bunch of greedy businessmen have done a catastrophic job.
