Please keep threads unilingual

I apologize for using Spanish on the English threads. It just happened. I was happy to see @MiG, is all. Won’t happen again.

As long as its not a whole post and you put the english translation by side, I don’t see a problem…

Is there a spanish thread?

I see no need to apologize whatsoever.
I easily copy and paste into google translator.
I read how @MiG warned you about birds as vermin earlier today.
I enjoy the use of languages other than English on OG!
IMO, this is a good thing, it is way too easy to obtain a translation for anyone to object.

Besides, it gives me a certain insight into being able to see a translation of what @MiG writes in English compared to his Spanish, which I translate into English.

This is very good for OG…IMO!

There is now, feel free to use spanish there!

I thank you for your words, as usual my very good friend @Calyxander with his wisdom and good vibes! Cheers bro!

I understand what you say, but no everyone has the time to do it… LOL

You can post in any language you want. It’s very easy to translate these days…

Haha… I will simply translate the new Spanish thread and I can then translate my English into Spanish and post there in!

Is it only me that thinks this is very cool?

Different languages are in no way a barrier of any kind nowadays!

Overgrow is a worldwide community and there is no official language of OG. Communicating in a different language adds to the diversity to the conversation and hopefully attracts a wider audience.

No apologies needed, feel free to communicate in whatever language you like.

I fully agree. But I think we should also consider that having topic in multiple languages mixed together is not optimal. It makes it harder to read and time exhausting. We are trying to gather some knowledge, grower opinions, solutions to problems, etc. Starting topic in one language and ending it another decreases clarity and usability of the information.

I don’t think that google translates solves this, because many times technical terms are used and these are translated with much less reliability.

I think for benefit of all, we should respect language in which Original post was made and keep single topic in single language. Feel free to start topic in whatever language you wish (probably make it clear in the title). We can even start some International category for those topic which can grow to separate categories for Spanish, etc. You can also tag your topic as spanish

That is why I suggested @MadScientist to start another chat thread for spanish.

What do you think?

Didn’t the British Empire sink the Spanish Armada back in the day?:smile: But Spain wins with better food and wine! Spanish reminds me of tapas bars and beautiful women…I’m happy to see Spanish or other languages to remind that people are different and maybe I’ll learn something…btw England wins on beer!

On my threads i don’t mind Spanish or German. Now days i find more people are familiar with multiple languages. I think if it doesn’t annoy the original poster it should be fine. To set a firm rule one way or another would stifle the flow of information in my humble opinion. I will follow whatever is agreed upon however.

I forgot, Spain is better at football! OK, whoever wins the UEFA cup every year gets to choose the language.

They don’t play football in Spain they play soccer! (dumb American humor)

I concede the validity and importance of your point.

I was looking at this from a myopically selfish perspective.
I personally enjoy translating some of the Spanish posts.

However, for the greater good of the “growing” community of OG, your suggestions will provide for more succinct reading and resultant comprehension of valuable information regarding the greatest hobby in the known universe.

Gracias, Calyxander.
