Be vigilant navigating the wikis, I got it all jacked up. I’ve moved some of the registration info to a reply in this thread to clean up a bit, follow it. Only hard rule is to be prompt in getting your flip mailed out, if it’ll be more than 2-3 days, let the recipient know.

TO REGISTER
You’ll need to register on the Wiki in this post(OG) AND create an account on Poker Now(PN) website.
Click the “Request Participation” button near the bottom of the page or “Login” near the top right… After clicking, the first option on the page is where you can enter a valid email address(*use your junk email account if you have one) and then click “Send Me the Code.” There are various ways of logging in with pre-existing social media accounts as well, if you prefer to do it that way.
Check your email for the one time password that you will enter on the Poker Now(PN) website to create your PN account. You can specify your username once you’ve logged in for the first time on the PN website. You must register on the PN website to play.
At this point you may need to click “Request Participation” again.
Don’t forget to add your name and buy in (flip o beans) to the Wiki.

The Game
Tournament style No Limit Texas Hold 'em. Everyone will start equally with 1000 chips. Play will occur in timed rounds with increasing blinds, bets and antes and will last until one player has all of the chips. The game will be setup to last 1.5-2.5 hours. Your flip of seeds is your “buy in.”
THE PRIZE
Each member playing will offer a flip of seeds of their choice. These will be divided among the top finishers in the tournament and mailed out to the winners by the member offering the flip.
The top 20% of finishers will be eligible for a prize. For example, if 100 players and you make it to the top 20, you’re guaranteed at least 1 flip and the potential to win 12.
i’m down for poker. is there a choice of games or are we stuck with hold 'em? i prefer 7 card stud, but i also prefer to play in person. either way i’m down.
The free options are looking to be pretty limited in game types.
The Poker Now site offers no limit holdem, Omaha and Omaha hi/lo. I figure hold em is easy to pick up on if people aren’t already familiar with it. I’m going to continue looking for browser based options. I’m not opposed to using a standalone app, but am not familiar with any that have an option to host a private tournament.

Tournament poker is a last person standing style of play.
The flip you “buy in” with will give you 1000 chips to start with. All players who offer up a flip will start equally with 1000 chips and play will go on until all chips are held by one player. The group of players will be seated in equal numbers across multiple tables and as players are knocked out (by running completely out of chips) the number of tables will shrink and the remaining players will be moved to the remaining tables. Once the last player has all the chips, they’re deemed the winner and willl have first choice to pick from the flips they won.
Say 20 people signed up, there will be 20 flips on the wiki. There will be 2 tables of 10 players. As players run out of chips they’re knocked out of play. The game will move players to keep an even number of players between the tables until there are only enough left for one table. The final table. If we decide the top 4 finishers should pay out in a 40%/30%/20%/10% split, the player in first place will have first pick of 8 flips from the list of flips on the wiki, 2nd will get next choice of 6, 3rd will get next choice of 4 and 4th will get the remaining two flips.
I’m just using the suggested split percentages for an example. It doesn’t have to be just the top 3 or 4 finishers, I’m open for a bigger split among fewer players but part of the joy is the big win. I think for up to 10 players, top 3 get all the prizes. 11-20 players, top 4 and then add a prize place for every 5 or 10 additional players after that.
As a way to make sure there’s a chance to win seeds without making it to the final table, we could use a bounty system, where players can put up a flip of seeds to reward the player who knocks them or whoever they placed the bounty on out. The bounty flip will be independent of the buy in flip. Bounties could even be added by members not participating, just to spice it up.
Indeed, my friend. People unfamiliar with tournament Hold 'em will pick up pretty quick on the format. I think the biggest hurdle will be getting everyone registered to the site to play on. I’ll try to keep the OP tidy. I just want to make sure everyone roughly understands and doesn’t feel screwed over…
I’ve tagged you because you’ve showed interest by liking, posting or voting in the poll. We’ve got 15+ people showing interest. I’ve updated the OP Poker game for flips. Going by the poll, the weekend is a slightly more popular option than a weekday afternoon. Sunday evening is kinda like a weekday evening.
I figure a tentative time of 2025-03-03T01:30:00Z might be an ok compromise for NA players and night owl Europeans. That’ll give us ~5 days to get everyone who wants to participate registered on the Poker Now website. I’ve got no problem delaying the start until we get a set number of players available for a specific date. But, lets try to nail that specific time within the next day or so that way people can schedule their time.
Play on your web browser, no software to download. I expect the game to run 1.5-2.5 hours with the current blind structure, could be quicker but I doubt much longer.

March 2 wouldn’t work for me this tournament, I work on shifts day/night rotations, maybe next tournament would work better with my schedule

It is unfortunate with the timezone being an issue on our global scale. This is still early planning and I think we should delay the start until we have at least 10 people. I just wanted to put a time out there. I initially thought of around 2025-03-02T18:00:00Z and will change it if it accommodates more people. I didn’t think the poll options out very well. Perhaps we will get enough interest to run a couple of these each month with alternate start times. The PN website seems pretty simple to setup a private tournament with if you’re familiar with poker and I can try to help anyone set one up for themselves.
I think playing with OGers would be great fun. While I’m not completely opposed to it, play money can get boring and make bad habits. With the addition of real risk and reward for good play can make for some excitement.
I’ll try my best for the next week or so to gauge interest/commitment and get something organized without being too intrusive with the tags. Keep checking in.
I like this idea but I work on the March 2nd but I get home at 8 so I will definitely play if it starts at 8.30. I will add my name when time is set for sure.
