I was thinking about doing something that most would laugh at . I was thinking about just getting some proven/ reliable seeds (regular) and just let them go both male and female for seed production for personal use . obviously discarding weak plants along the way . Im not really concerned with top of the line genetics but more with consistency in the plants that produce THC . Possibly some old school inline cultivar ? Im not sure . If anybody has any thoughts on a seed line i should check out from u experience id love to hear it . I know this is not the proper way to do things but i know ive also grown out a pack of seeds before and the plants have been almost exactly the same so why wouldn’t the offspring be the same ? Any thoughts on which seed line i should look into?
I have done a little work with 88g13hp and it’s an IBL which is remarkably consistent. There shouldn’t be too much variation between generations.
i think it’s a great idea. i’d take a female out of each generation and keep her separate for seedless smoke though.
If you’re after real consistency and replicability, some breeders/growers will market their work as an “inbred line” or IBL–the idea being that they’ve been selected for several generations (often 8-9+) to be extremely consistent with one another. I liked Sannie’s Herijuana, though it’s no longer marketed.
To answer your “why wouldn’t” question–genetics are really complicated! If two genetically distinct plants are bred together, then the first generation after that (known as F1) tends to be very homogeneous and vigorous–go look in any garden store and you’ll see tomatoes, corn, lettuce, etc. that are marketed as “F1 Hybrids.” The generation after that, by contrast (F2) tends to produce a lot more variation, present traits that are the product of recessive genes, and might (perhaps if consistency is a paramount concern) be less worth growing. For some of us, growing out an F2 generation is part of the fun of the process and the hobby; for many people, it’s not worth the bother of sifting the gold from the mud.
Grew a Goji f2 that was the best plant from Bodhi Ive grown.
I recently did a seed run with my last three seeds of slurricane from archive. I ended up with two males one female, kept one male and the female and also crossed this to a Chernobyl female. The whole thing was very easy and seamless, got way way more seeds than I ever needed by doing an open pollen dump. Your male is going to make a mess if you just let him dump openly in the space, keep that in mind.
As far as like what strain or what seeds? Honestly, whatever looks good or sounds good to you. In my case the reason I pick the slurricane besides those were my last three seeds, you never see it as a regular strain, it’s always feminized from in-house so the archive version is rather hard to come by, I thought it would be a good idea to make F2 seeds
that’s not something to laugh at. it’s really a good idea. and i love pollen chucking, it’s my favorite part of growing. as far as strains are concerned you can’t go wrong with bodhi seeds.
I think I’d go with a hybrid that involves a fairly inbred line… for example one of Bodhi’s Deep Line Alchemy releases. You can work the line towards what you like by keeping seeds from the plants you like best.
If you only pollinate the bottom branches its pretty easy to get a harvest and a small crop of beans off the same plant (I’ve been pulling seeds I made over the summer, successfully only brushed pollen on the bottom branches and still made a good amount of seeds).
Like many have already said iBL’s are were you wanna be looking.
I have f2’s of Tony Green’s GG4 RIL and every plant that come up is the same. ![]()
This 88g13hp is intriguing to me and I would love to get to grow some one day. Very sad to see bodhi retired his male although he did certainly put him to work. Any chance you would have some seeds to share?
I don’t have any left to share I’m afraid. But there was a repro/giveaway done here very recently so somebody might be up for a trade.
Best of luck.
I’m sure one day I will have some to grow
going through the 88g13hp thread a few days ago I remembered your name pop up there so I figured it could be worth to ask.
Yeah @Foreigner went “OG Mad” and gave away most of the stock he created!

I think I have some to spare, but like maybe 2-4 seeds from what I have set aside as breeding project stock.
Shoot me a PM as a reminder @Rastafarhigh and I’ll take a look later today!
Hat’s off for @Foreigner for doing that OG thing ![]()
Thanks @Pigeonman but I feel that you should keep them for your breeding project. Surely there’s a lot more seeds around and maybe someone will reproduce some more
very OG though, I really appreciate it ![]()
No worries growmie! If you don’t find please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Making the seeds is easy, finding the gem to start with that hold each trait or some of them together that you desire is the hard part.
After hundreds of plants in the last 3 years I can say with confidence I didn’t find one I would like to be my corner stone breeding pheno.
Focus on growing as many as possible, when you reach something that’s worth your time and money you can proceed to further refine it or cross it and refine that.
If finding a keeper is so difficult for breeding I probably wouldn’t try my hand at breeding.
I hope you find something you would like to take further soon ![]()
I’m speaking from my exp and pov, everyone is different ofcourse, thank you for the warm wishes I hope that too, everyday haha
When it comes to lame plants and taking them further, I go by the saying,

Thank u for the response from everyone, let me ask this i know this is a common question but it may need a updated response since cannabis has changed so much in the last 5 years from new names to new varieties (well maybe just new in names ) . What are considered extreme yeilders in 2024 for indoor . Again not really worried about extreme potency just bread and butter cultivars that yeild really well
Any cannabis plant thats started with good genetics and cared for properly, has the potential to be a great yielder.
When you put plant training in the mix…same applies.
