Potting question

Is it possible to transfer a month old plant from its small pot (0.5 liter), into its final pot (40 liter)?
I know that it’s bad to plant a seed in a pot that is too large, because the root will take too long to reach the bottom, and there will be a super slow grow of stem and leafs. But what about after a month, when it already has enough stem and leafs, and the roots already reached the bottom of the first pot? Is it safe now to transfer into the largest pot, or must the transition be gradual?
Thanks in advance!

I think it’s fine to do so as long as its not an auto fem…

Up potting in series every 2 weeks will help the plant get big fast.

But I’ve gone 16ox cups right to in-ground and 30gal fabric pots and it works too.

Indoors you’ll notice it a lot more due to the time for the plant to get beefy as underground action takes it’s time before the above ground action takes off.

Imho its better to up pot 1 pot size. from Solo cups to 1 gal to final pot. It makes watering and feeding easier to control. 2 weeks in the solo cup 2-3 weeks in a 1 gal then final pot.

I’ve done seeds in seed cells then into solo cups then into 3 and 5 gallon pots. I’ve also done seeds in seed cells then straight into 3 gallon pots and you’d never know the difference.

Its just easier to get watering right when the plant fits the pot. Over watering is easier in pots too big and you have to guess water. Roots don’t grow into dry soil and dry soil wicks away moisture from the root zone drying out root tips and stunting growth. Harder to notice on well established plants but young plants in large pots is a recipe for disaster in my books

Thanks for the replies everyone!
I’ll stick to the gradual approach.
