Maple leaf indica, is what sensi got from nevil and said to.be original stock from maple leaf wilson. Or was it ortega. Basically indica from which hashplant and the likes of other afghani/hashplant came from.
… so if you find a skunky one let me know. I’ll know what to grab next.that’s what I was thinking…
Well damn. I was. Gonna get a pk. But I’m good on the germs, that would be a good place to find a skunky Afghan. Especially with them being not so uniform. Another afghan t could be lerking in those
…and everyone loses their erection simultaneously.
I’m honestly not concerned. I didn’t read any grow reports where the plants went herm. I did find a few outdoor grows where the maple leaf was too dense and got substantial bud rot. Seems like this is a pretty tried and true indoor line, they’ve been selling it continuously for at least 30 years.
Of course we’ll find out, but I don’t expect it to be a problem.
It does seem to be a good method for fragile seeds. It worked well for some tough to germ lebanese landrace from real seed co earlier this year.
I’m going to try this method with some approximately 40 year old seeds from pawsfodocaws, so I’ll let you know how well it works on really old seeds.
Keep the pot size big and they should herm less. Great genetics. I’ve heard alot about the old Maple Leaf. Show us some pictures as they grow!
Could the hermie info be disinformation? To keep us from trying it? I have to say I’m quite surprised Sensi would have a hermie line of Afghan, when so many lines of Afghan are hermie free…
@ Rocketboy whod info come from?
Im guessing/assuming most all top dutch breeders have lost their original parental stock in drug raids. It seems Maple Leaf Indica is still the same line it once was. There is 26 pages of chat on Sensis product in another forum.
Sensi might have taken a wrong turn on these while working the line, and releasing inferior product.
Sensi Silver Haze was my shit in the 90’s. I got a clone of it eventually, but it came with spider mites so I dumped it after a few cycles.
There is stuff labelled “Haze” on the Dutch market that contain no actual Haze. Amazes me why its labelled such, but so be it I guess.
Its a buyer beware market still. There was so much good shit back in the day I think we may have taken it for granted it will always be around.
The Real seed company has been getting lots of great landraces in. Many of them from the country of origin. The landrace team Tora Bora should be from the same source as The Real Seed Comoanies, which is Kyle Kushman( it is Kyle, right?). Keep in mind when ordering that in Afghanistan they make and smoke hash. Not ganja. So they are looking to have potent Fields, not potent plants per se. So if you’re looking to smoke these landraces ( ganja) you should get yourself some extra seeds and plan on doing a pheno hunt. Always make some seeds with your first purchase, so you can really go through them in the f-2s. Also, they don’t often germinate with the same success rates as reproduced seeds, with exceptions of course.
My thought is… if it’s the same genetics. …as the parent stock from the 90s …if you search and breed enough. Itll pop back up. Genetics dont go anywhere…if it’s the same genetic pool…its there weather it’s the same parents or not. Your just wait to run into that genetic alignment again. I breed dogs…and you can try to breed away from something …but the undesirable will show up again…down the line if it’s the same genetic pool.
Thems pretty big leaves to be mli
aw man not the invasion of the instagram mystery breeders.
Are we really supposed to take their word on this if they don’t even know where their stock came from?
This was their reply when asked if their maple leaf was the same as sensi stock.
edit-
I signed up for instagram recently, and aside from a few people I already know personally, there is almost nothing on there that I can take seriously. Even an anonymous forum like this has a greater level of community oversight, and factual cross referencing.
On instagram I see a lot of bold claims that don’t hold up to scrutiny, and a lot of people either angling for a profit or trying to generate buzz for an eventual commercial endeavor.
To be clear, I’m not disparaging these guys or their breeding program. It sounds like they are doing some good work.
However, I think this statement is far too generalized to be taken seriously.
We have a lot of good information and knowledgeable members here, using instagram for citations on the forum could open a huge can of worms.
My post wasn’t made to discourage you from running those babies, by all means run them. It is true MLI (Ortega Line) has a few hermi issues, but they’re still more stable then the trash genetics being pump out these days.
Like most things said on the internet, take it with a grain of salt, but a little extra attention doesn’t hurt the MLI.
I was checking out KillaBeez Seed Bank because of the FastBuds giveaway and it’s the first place I have seen the Alien Technology seeds available.
Big Head Seeds Alien Technology | 25% THC, Pure Indica, Vanilla | Cannabis Seeds
So, we’re talking pure Afghan genetics, but we don’t know what region. It seems like a really desirable high as well.
youre right on the money about the hash. spent awhile there. my profile pic on here is of a small field of stocky little plants outside a village in the east by the border of Pakistan. just a mans personal garden. I never once saw anyone smoke buds. everything was turned to hash. the plants I saw that were flowering didn’t look or smell like anything special, but the hash they made looked great. never got to smoke any because of the job but ill always regret not bringing seeds back to just hunt through later.
Maple Leaf has smaller leaves? So does Mazar, and you mentioned they come from the same valley…do you think MLI IS a Mazar pheno then?
