It is a disease carried by leaf hoppers. I had it the last couple of years but not this year. Beginning of this year i sprayed all of the vegetation in the area with draconil, and used cap jacks dead bug brew on my plants. No leaf hoppers and no purple death. Its something that originated on potato plants in the midwest and was carried to the east coast. Sucks.

Yeah, cool temps do it yearly at my place, too, but the horseshit caused purple before the cold hit, for some other unknown reason, likely lockout from something in the poo. Good picture of it. Very few people know how to spot that deficiency, and I’ve only seen it in 2 books, including yours. I’m sure a lot of new books will have it now that someone got a good picture of it.
Edit.
That might be the same book I have lol

But if Phosphorus is a mobile element, how come deficiency appears in the new growth?
