Quantum boards Q&A

660nm Red LED in quantum boards

Whats the story with this? Everything I’ve read says its plant specific, even strain specific.

Some quantum boards come with the added red LEDS some do not.

Would I really see fatter buds if I used a 3000k board with some 660nm reds instead of a board with all white LEDS?

Inquiry Minds want to know, I am interested in these also

I read people believe the far reds help trigger the plants to get ready to transition to lights off and gets them to “sleep” sooner? I read some people have them on at the end of lights off to trigger this. But I have no clue honestly, never used reds aside from my blurple lights so I would like to know experiences of people who tried this out as well.

Smokeygrows - The far reds you’re talking about induce the Emerson effect, roughly the way you described it, but the reds on these boards are almost always “photo” reds or 660nm.

KarmaFPS - From what I understand, adding 660nm reds changes the way buds look rather than their weight. If you look at the spectra charts from HLG, adding these reds to 4k boards is more effective in delivering a broad spectrum than adding them to 3k boards. If you add these reds to 3k boards, your balance is skewed heavily to red which is not the most energetic or efficient part of light for plants to use.

Hey crazaer thanks for that. I have the HLG 550 in 3500k, ordered two QBs from china, one is 3000k other is 4000k. Both are all white.
If what you are saying is correct, I did it right.
