Hi everyone, itā€™ll be week 8 in 4 daysā€¦ OG Kush, some are particularly showing amber, the others arenā€™tā€¦ Only own an 8X magnifying glass. Thanks.

A shot of another oneā€¦

Where are the trichs!?

Hey brother, just an opinion but those look like they got weeks to go. I would not even go looking for a trichome until all those pistils stop reaching. Once they stop and recede back is when I would start looking at trichomes.

Id say she can go a little ways yet. Are you flushing her or something? She looks like shes being stripped of nutes. Not trying at all to discourage you or anything but id feed her n let her go a bit. Shell probably lock up that cola and swell out. But right now shes not getting her food n wants it. How long she been flowering? Most strains take 8 weeks on the short end. Some can take 12+ especially sativas. If you have a loupe or scope you can look at trichs. The above post by dougdawson is a good one for basic ideas of what youre looking for and what youll get at each stage.

Hi @bonastrack, welcome to Overgrow! :sunglasses: :+1:

She looks hungry, Iā€™m with @rooted on this one. Feed her and let her go longer.

Cheers

Thank you! It is rare, it has been in bloom for 3 months now, a month ago I stopped giving nutrients because I thought the harvest was coming and I read that they advised doing a root wash and do not give it more nutrients, I do not expect my first harvest to be a Success, it would be a lot of expectation, if something ā€œdecentā€ comes out, thatā€™s enough LOL, I have to buy a magnifying glass, I still donā€™t have it. Iā€™m going to see if I get and send photos of the trichomes.

To add, it is entering winter where I live and it is outdoors (temperature of 4Āŗc at night)

If those plants are at 8 weeks of flowering, you have a problem somewhere.

I would be looking for a light leak. They are very under developed, almost like outside plants where days only get gradually darker over a 3 month period, are they being grown in a tentšŸ¤”

inside a bathroom. Thanks.

Go in your bathroom during lights out, if you can see a spec of light anywhere in the bathroom even if its a faint light on an electric toothbrush charger or from under the door you need to stop it, any light in the dark period will slow the flowering process and may cause the plants to produce male flowers from stress.

Also what you are calling amber are pistils, they will do that if you touch them or as they get older. When people refer to amber they mean the trichomes.

what does foxtailing do to the end product? can you tell a difference in taste, texture, smell or just plain end quality? Iā€™m sure I might have smoked some, and I say that with little caution because I know for a fact that at one point I had a plant of Rocky Mountain High x Pink Animal Cracker that foxtailed, I thought that it was a Rattlesnake tail pattern at first (Iā€™ll include an image below). I planned to keep it separate from the rest of the harvest (to check) but someone (that shall go nameless) mixed it in with the rest, but I could not tell any difference, but that may just be me! I smoke so much that one bud is like the next, practically that isā€¦

The 3 times I have had foxtailng, the only difference it made was awkward trimming lol. Tastes and smoked the same otherwise.

Foxtails usually donā€™t effect quality overall. The reason for foxtails should be investigated to identify the reason for this. Certain genetics can be predisposed to foxtailing. This is usually identified by the uniformity in the plant( foxtails high and low). If theyā€™re just present on the tops you could have an issue with the lights being too close or the heat being too high. The few Iā€™ve had that foxtailed really didnā€™t show any difference in smell , taste, etc. They just looked odd.
