hello all ok here goes been on here for a long time dont post much.my girlfriend is going through chemo for cancer and gets a lot of pain. she gets oxyies for the pain i have been growing for her for a while and i make canna butter for her as well as good bud to smoke.she told me she wants to try some gummies instead of smoking.i bought a infusor to make them but i am not real sure where to start.i read that some folks say dont use any alcohol higher then 151 others say dont use anything less then 190.anyways does anyone on here have recipes and how to on making a tinchture to make gummies
I havent made gummies in a very long time. Usually caramels made with cannabutter are my go to candy. Much easier to get a good consistency in my opinion.
This is usually what i make now. My friend makes the RSO for me but its a relatively straightforward process. You can make the infused coconut oil with flower/trim if you dont want to make RSO.
If youre making RSO, you want to use as high proof alcohol as possible because the water in the mixture pulls chlorophyll and other compounds youre not really trying to extract. If youre making tinctures, lower proof alcohol is much easier on the tongue.
I havent made a tincture in a long time, but if i recall correctly i just decarbed my flower for 40 minutes at 230f and then soaked in alcohol and strained the flower out. Wasnt the biggest fan because of how it would burn my mouth.
If you are using alcohol for the extraction solvent you want as high a proof as you can get (e.g. everclear).
The water component will leach unwanted molecules (chlorophyl etc.) so you want to minimize that.
I use frozen juice concentrate for the liquid and make the infusion with coconut oil and dry ice hash from my trim and larf. My wife hates the taste of weed in edibles and these have little to no weed taste.
You can look into adding potassium sorbate as a preservative if you want to make a big batch. Do some research first on it before you do it as you have to careful with dosage as it can be toxic at high levels. You need very little to inhibit mold.
Also, use a condiment squeeze bottle to fill your molds. So much easier than a dropper.
There’s alot to it and it takes time to get it down and get everything dialed in . I’d buy some gummy’s for her to take until you get the process nailed down.
