Regs don't sell?

What would this look like?

I’ve had some autos that seemed ok with 24/0, but some start looking a little droopy after too much daylight and no rest period.

I run 20/4 on autos now, unless they start looking sad… then I drop to 18/6

But like always, YMMV

it might not be this way consistently, but vegging at 24 can postpone the flower. i found one recently that did that. it went about 45 days with no sexing…even my photos show sex by then. Well, i put it in an 18/6 tent and in a week we had hairs. i had heard of this, buy not seen it until recently. there are a lot of posts that say 24hrs light, DWC/RDWC, LST or no training at all…maybe not all autos are fully auto.

i had intended on training. not exactly scrogging but sort of like that to allow light to penetrate. is that not a good idea? sorry for hijacking this thread on this but i have not done the first bit of research yet since he isn’t popping the seeds until after the new year.

Now this I’ve never heard of :thinking:I’ve always been under the impression you have to grow a seedling a bit to get sex, at least 3-4 nodes. So you’re saying STARTING seeds under 12/12 doesn’t adversely affect or confuse them ? Share some more insight please. Just hard for me to believe it doesn’t retard growth at that young stage.

Yes it can be done for various reasons. With photos.

I try to mimic nature in my grow, so grow lights come on in stages. (3 timers on different lights.)
They go off in reverse order. (LIFO)

Timer1 is on background lights, so I can work w/o sunglasses.

Starting seeds on 12/12 is similar to the natural light in spring time. By me April 1 is 12:12 and light increases until June 21 when it starts decreasing.
Light at the equator is 12/12 or 13/11 year round.

Ah, now it makes sense from a natural standpoint than artificially induced. It’s funny, all the so-called growing gurus failed to mention it while writing their books. Wish I knew this about 20 some years ago, but I always say you NEVER stop learning :face_with_monocle: TY

Someone just explained it to me recently also! So almost 30 years indoor growing and I learned that in the last year!
Finding some new stuff out as I explore outdoor growing verses indoors

Skunkman Sam and The Revv both promote a very silimar idea. But when I tried it, my % of males went from under 50 to like 70+%. Some of the stuff was 100% male. I cant say thats everyone experience, but I got mad and never tried it again lol

Well that IS something to consider, so I appreciate you sharing it. I just found an extra seedling that popped during sexing another mature plant, I just was able to remove it from the rootball intact, so I’m going to throw that in and see what it shows rather than growing the thing for 2-3 weeks.

I ran seeds 12/12 their whole lifetime, and the plant morphology is completely different. It really wants that single cola and doesn’t want its lowers growing at all. That was just one grow, but yeah.

It’s common to start pure sativas under 12/12 and they still get huge. Indicas won’t usually get big enough but a good 50/50 hybrid will get to the perfect size and still flower early. We used to call them 90 day wonders because it took 90 days from germination to harvest.

Well said, I was just going to type the same thing…LOL

I just got back from Colorado for the first time…first thing I did when I got home was text my weedman appreciation.

The prepackaged format is terrible for pot in general, but in a climate as horribly dry as Colorado. Just don’t even have the words. Mutiple dispos, multiple products, multiple price points…I told my wife, “Colorado pot is so terrible they need to REcriminalize it”. Crushes to dust in your fingers. The views were great and the people were awfully friendly, but damn that was the worst pot I’ve ever experienced in my life.

Opposite end of the spectrum from Maine, which was dank after dank after dank. On sale pack of Maine prerolls was of higher quality than a “top shelf” fancy jar colorado 1/8. Maine raw bud was so dank it left the car stinking for a day and I didn’t even open the jar nevermind smoke in the car.

FWIW, I got the best vape I’ve ever smoked in Colorado. It was headband and was fantastic, relative to other dispensary purchases I made in other states. That said, I generally avoid anything from dispensaries these days, especially vapes. They need to be at least five times stronger to be worthwhile.

I did get great, fantastic really, rosin cart. Was labeled as a Flo X Sherbanger, specifically Dj Short’s Flo X Sherbanger.

From when they break ground it’s about three weeks before males start showing. I move everything to veg as soon as possible.
Small containers until everything is sexed.

I like to top, lollipop, and defoliate early and often. Keep in mind that this is potentially disastrous if conditions aren’t right or if roots are getting disrupted or if you do too much at once. If a plant is growing vigorously there shouldn’t be many that don’t do well with it. Any plant that doesn’t respond well to training isn’t worth the time IMO. Also, start them in plugs and transfer at 10-12 days making sure roots are not disturbed, or start on final containers.
