The smell is amazing! It smells exactly like peeling a fresh tangerine.

Rest assured I totally appreciate the lack of gnarly, dirty, bare feet. And I think others here appreciate it too

Well, after roughly a week in flower, the Durban Poison on the left showed his male parts. Heā€™s mulch now. Not sure what to do with the empty spot. Maybe Iā€™ll throw an autoflower seed or two in there to fill the space. Both the two on the right have a few pistils, I hope that stay that way.

I kept a bunch of the bigger fan leaves for the outer wrapping of a cannagar. First sealed them up with the vacuum sealer. They then got placed on top of my hot water heater where that will stay for a few days to ā€œsweatā€. After that they will be dried out to about and re-sealed to cure for a week or two.

This usually happens to me outdtoors when some unknown but genetically close species drops some pollen on your pistils, and the plant reacts weird, but can be passed on genetically . i found this for you since i like your expirements
Polyploidism
Polyploids are individual organisms that possess double the normal amount of chromosomes for the species they belong to. Occasionally, this trait can be fixed into plant species via breeding programsā€”for example, durum wheat (used to make pasta) is a polyploid form of wheat created via an inter-species cross of two grasses with the typical chromosome count.
In cannabis, rare instances of spontaneous polyploidism can occur if the normal process of cell division malfunctions during development, and can be also be induced in plants that would otherwise develop normally by treatment with a powerful chemical called colchicine.

Polyploidism is considered useful, as it is thought to cause a significant increase in THC production, as well as gigantism (extra large plants with extra large buds!). Up to now, it appears that no true-breeding strains have been developed, although rumours on internet forums suggest that at least one breeder is attempting it. passing the love~~!

Cool info OGpharmer. I had a THC Bomb girl recently that had a branch similar to that. It was like Siamese stems with a double-wide head. I called it carrot-top.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. It was only those two branches. She grew out of it. She ended up being a keeper based on smell alone. In fact I have some coming up to harvest next weekend.

that looks more like a fim before flower.

Iā€™ve got a good feeling about those Canna Cigars.

Iā€™ll put up a tutorial. I did one last year about this time, but never took pictures. I want to get it done so it can age until 420!

thereā€™s a strain called jack the ripper (subcool) that throws out twins quite occasionally, and a few others that may or maynot do this 1/2 way up the stem. so if we are growing crosses with any of these lineages. grats on twins!!

Just got caught up on the thread. Did you mention whoā€™s Durban that is?

It is an F2 of Afropipā€™s Durban Poison created by Dave Coulier from ICMag. I promised to test and it took almost three months to get the beans through SeedBay. The mother had a lot of purple cylaxes.

I have been seriously considering a re-model of my workshop. I am getting pretty tired of growing in small spaces. I would love to have the full 7ā€™ of height to work with. When I first started growing, I was going through a divorce and wanted to keep the grow stealthy. As I have upgraded, the stealth has gone way down. Right now, itā€™s very clear something is going on in that room with all the fans and AC running.

First thing I need to do is to upgrade the power. Currently itā€™s a 15-amp circuit that is shared with the rest of the basement. I am currently running about 600-watts of light (total), three 4" fans and filters, and a 5000-BTU air conditioner. My plan was to up that to about 1000-watts of light (total) and a 12000-BTU air conditioner. I can either run a dedicated 20-amp circuit or, possibly, two 15-amp circuits so I can balance the load.

Next, I want to upgrade the air conditioner to a 12000-BTU window unit. Right now, the window is covered with some 3" insulated foam. I want to put some drapes between the window and the foam, cover the gap with glass, then back it with plywood to make it more secure. After that, I will likely build some shelving in front of the window for storage.

After that, I need to fix the existing walls and door. The walls are not insulated and are covered in paneling instead of sheetrock. While Iā€™m at it, I might as well insulate and put up sheetrock on those walls. The door frame in this room is about 3" too tall, so I will also fix that while I have everything ripped out. Finally I will put a solid core door, and possibly a metal door frame for security.

Finally, I will be able to build a flower room, a veg/mom room, and a drying room. The room is 10ā€™x10ā€™. My plan was to build two 4ā€™x4ā€™ rooms and a 2ā€™x4ā€™ drying room.

For the flower room, I plan to build a second 250-watt Cree CXB3590 light, or possibly upgrading to 500-watts of SolStrips. The area will be exhausted with a 6" Hyper Fan Digital fan.

For the veg/mom room, I already have about 360-watts of T5 lighting I will most likely use. Perhaps I will upgrade those to LED too later. I would like to put a wire shelf with lighting in there for mothers and clones. It will be ventilated with another 6" Hyper Fan shared with the drying room.

Finally the odor control and air quality will be controlled with a CleanLeaf air filtration unit. Iā€™ll use a ā€œlung roomā€ to filter the air and control the environment with the fans on a thermostat for each room.

Obviously this project will take a while, and a lot of money. What do you all think? Better options or troubles I didnt think of? Anyone who has built a room, what would you do different?

Sounds like a plan. When we put in a window air, we had to run dedicated 20-amp for it. The outlet is still in the floor as I had central air put in. Electricity isnā€™t my thing.

Yeah Iā€™m right at the limit. Every time I plug in something extra it pops the circuit. Regardless of other upgrades, that has to be done.

I read about a chemical that was being used to force polyploidism. Rumour was that some breeders were using it to keep their work from being used. Aparently a polyploid plant wonā€™t cross successfully with a non polyploid.
colchicine was the chem if I remember right. incredibly dangerous stuff to handle and the plant canā€™t be smoked until the next generation.
Natural is the way to go now that youā€™ve found one.

A room is superior to a tent, but tents are very inexpensive. If you are thinking long term, no question, upgrades are a quality of life decision, and usually a good choice.

Seeing that its my business, Iā€™ll proceed just a little further.

Is the area a basement area? If so, finished basements add a certain limited value to real estate and usually do not return dollar for dollar.

Is this space attached to a home? If not, a dollar spent usually will not return a dime.

If the area is not in the basement, absolutely finish it like the rest of your home. The next owner may value it, even with modest modifications.

If you intend to use this space for a long time, go as far ($) as you are comfortable going. It is a quality of life decision.

My workshop is a room in my house. The basement (half actually, itā€™s a split level home) is finished. I plan on being here a minimum of 10 years from now, so the $ is well worth the investment.
