Revegging some Blue Cookies and GG#4

Im trying to reveg some gifted plant bottoms in containers from a friend for shits and giggles. They will be going outdoors in late May once the weather get nice. There are 2 x GG#4’s and 2 Blue Cookies. There is 1 White Widow, tho it didnt dig the ride home. It was -10 celcius that day. She didnt like the cold, and a lot of the leaves died off real quick.
Theyve been sprayed for PM, checked for mites, and cut back and placed under 2 - 4 foot flouros. They dont need much light when they are flipping back to veg.

I figure I would document it. Throw it up here. We’ll see what happens. If they reveg hopefully someone may learn something, and try it themselves. Its an excellent way to have nice plants for early in the outdoor season if you can have a buddy hook u up, or of your own. REUSE, RECYCLE.

Not too much new to post. The buds I have noticed at day 7 (Sunday) are starting to stretch out a bit. Flowers are loosening up. Not enough to show on camera tho. Pics were taken 5 days ago or so.
I expect new growth starting on the bottom any day now. I imagine within the next 4 days or so I should see things moving.
Ill keep updates as they come.
Thanks.

Forgot to mention, the light cycle is at 24/0 right now. 24 hours light, 0 off.
Its been that way for 9 days now. Its important to get the plant to switch hormones from flowering back to veg. (i heard it happens fairly quickly, within a few days)
I will run it 24/0 for a few more days, then Ill drop it down to 20/4. Ill do that for about 2 weeks. By then if they have flipped back to veg, they will already have done so by then.
After those 2 weeks of 20/4 Ill likely drop it down to 18/6, tho I may keep it at 20/4. Ill decide then.
Also, today Ill hit it with some veg ferts. The infamous 20-20-20. Im not a salts guy, but thats how they were grown.
The containers were heavy still when I brought them home. And also when they are cut back they do not use much water. I didnt want any water-logged root issues, so I just let them dry out first.
Ill update as things come along.

Well, its been 16 days since I first flipped the timer back to 24/0. Im just starting to see new growth starting on 3 of the 4 of them. 2 days ago I first seen new growth.
The plant was allowed to dry out properly, after the vigorous flush it received. Then I hit her with 20-20-20 fert salts. Not my first choice, it was what my buddy was using. Salts.
There is new growth just coming out of the buds. And some new growth starting at the bottom of the plant. Most times the plant will start to reveg from the bottom-most plant material.
Ill continue to post as the plants continue to grow out.
If they grow right I should have dozens of new branches coming out of the older buds. We see.
If you have questions, dont hesitate to drop 'em.

You can absolutely reveg a plant, and your plants were cut perfectly to do so.

Looks like you’re right on schedule too, it’s usually about 2weeks of 24/0 before you’ll see them start to try to switch back to vegging. You’re going to see weird 1 fingered leaves for another week or two before it starts to fully revert to veg.

Try to boost your nitrogen ratio of your nutes if you can. It will encourage the plant to switch a little faster for you.

Things are coming along. 3 of 4 showing signs of reveg. 4th, not so much.
Its all good.
The plan was to re-veg some leftover plants out of a friends garden. Then the plan is to plop em outside in spring, and let them fly!!
Its an easy way to grow out plants for outdoors. There ought to be hundreds of cuttings available by mid summer im thinking.
Anyone can do it. Re-vegging works great if u wanna rerun something inside too. Assuming they will flip back to veg alright.
Most guys just start over, but revegging is a practical way to go also.
I will cut back the root ball shortly. Ill cut it back, and re-transplant. That will give it some more leg room, rather than to t-plant into a larger container.

we’ll give her another few days, then ill again post some images.

Hey @Silverhaze thanks for taking the time to show us how this works and of course the results to come.
A quick question if I may, is this a one time thing or can you do it multiple times ???.
I have tried this a long time ago with out success but I don’t think I left enough vegitation on the stump to survive. Will be watching very closely.

Cheers Johnny

figured Id drop a few more cool pics of the revegging going on…

hey Johnny…
As far as I know, as long as other health conditions are met, I dont see why a plant wouldnt flip back and forth multiple times? Ive never re-vegged more than once.
Ill be pulling out the rootball here soon, and cut back the roots and replant into fresh soil mix.

Ive read tho that the further a plant originates from the equator, the more difficult it is to get them to flip back to veg. I had some Freezeland Indica genetics last year that when I flipped to 12/12 for 6 days (to show sex), then back to veg, some of them didnt reveg. They stayed in flower. Flowered during June/July
So revegging may not apply to certain gentics , especially autoflowering, and ruderalis influenced genetics.

Awesome! This is the same technique I use. Works well most of the time. Some strains are pickier than others.

Yup @Mongobongo , true. Some just wont flip back to veg. And some do it effortlessly.
I just thought it was a cool thing to reveg em (recycle). Ill be putting them outside in the ground likely when the weather becomes acceptable for them.
They are large enough now I can take prolly 15 cuttings off of each plant.
Plants are 5 weeks old, from when I first placed them under my lights. Not bad for 5 weeks, to get this kind of growth under just 2 X 4 foot flouros.

I’ve heard that you should re-pot a plant to re-veg.
They need room to grow new roots as they’re growing new vegetation…
