Hello. Anyone aware of any glass companies out there that still sell dab rigs with 18mm joints? I am looking for a ball vape rig. Ideally looking for a medium size recycler with an 18mm female joint for better airflow. Unfortunately since dabbing is best with a 14mm joint they’re pretty hard to find. I prefer to buy USA glass over questionable Chinese knock offs which may or may not actually function right. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Vgoodiez has some American made glass rigs that are pretty decent
There’s some really good glass blowers on Instagram that I can give you a link to, but most of their pieces are gonna be in like the 3 to 500 range if that’s not out of the question I can give you links to there stuff

I agree, just order a piece direct from whatever artist you find that doesnt have 100,000 followers and they will happily work with you for 250-5 sounds like a gr3at price range

Thanks. I’ll have to check them out. I’ll likely get a better rig once I dial the vape in and figure out what I like. Then I’ll definitely be willing to spend that kind of money.

I’ve been loosely looking for an 18mm beaker/straight tube for my ball vape as well. I use the flowerpot. The one with the dish on the top. That wasn’t worth the extra money, in my opinion, but the vape itself is so awesome! I would love to use the 18mm insert though. The 14mm builds up gunk under the screen really fast.

I preordered the universal baller stainless steel version. I don’t like that most of the ones out now use titanium parts but with the all quartz/glass parts I’m finally jumping in. Assuming I like everything I’m looking at the cannabis hardware matrix bowl as an upgrade but given how new this all is I’m expecting new stuff will be coming out hot and heavy. I have an old Pyrology recycler from when dabs were first coming out that was made with an 18mm joint that I’m going to start using but it’s a smaller rig so hoping for a more midsize piece.

Do you prefer 18mm or 14mm for airflow? How much gunk build up compared to like reclaim from dabbing?

Good luck! I have an 18mm rig with a male joint, used to be standard 10 years ago but almost everything is 14mm now. One of my rigs i just ended up getting an 18mm to 14mm adapter because i couldn’t find any slides or bangers.
If you do buy online, double check it is actually an 18mm joint. I have done that before and was send a 14mm and then was dicked around to the point of needing to do a charge back, despite the rig being advertised as an 18mm joint.

I’ve not been able to use my ballvape with an 18mm but I have preferred 18mm rigs a lot more.
This is what I use now. I’m lazy on cleaning reclaim so I use an ash catcher and clean the rig, only cleaning out the catcher when needed. I use the rig dry too. I don’t know why I just like it more? heh…
The gunk though. That’s like little pieces of herb that pass through the screen and sit on the 14mm post. it collects reclaim and just sits there, eventually clogging it all up. I use the small red baster brush between bowls and that hels keep the screen cleaner, longer.

Honestly 14mm does fine for dabs unless you’re doing massive dabs and really need a ton of airflow. If you clean even semi regularly, it probably wont clog on you (month or two). I find my percolators clog up before my downstem
I personally prefer 18mm for flower or with those bigger percolators or series of percolators. Just helps do bigger bong rips. Usually with dabs i dont need that much airflow since im usually going for low and slow. Honestly if i was buying a dedicated dab rig, and didnt already have a ton of 18mm accessories, id probably just go 14mm for the sake of not losing my hair when its time to buy attachments.
I have been ripping my rig dry for years now haha still dabs really smooth without water

Yeah this is the problem. With ball vaping becoming more trendy though it’s going to be interesting to see people switching back to 18mm setups and if they become more popular again.

Recyclers are the best for dabs for sure. But if youre rockin a ball vape, chuggers are even better. Best chuggers on the market hands down IMO are iDab. The henny style specifically. Ive got one in 14, but Ive seem them make 18s as well. Made in LA at the old ROOR factory. They even do really killer custom stuff cheap. I had them make my old company’s logo etched into a piece, it’s really nice. But that being said, I run my ball vape through a 14 little beaker, and it works perfectly.
This. I used to give out 1000s of dabs at shows, and we tried every combo imaginable. 14 is the best size for dabbing without a doubt. Ideally through a klein style bong.
I personally dont really dig 18 through a ball vape, its a bit too big and the smoke can get kinda harsh

That setup is pretty much what I want to start with. I’ve heard an ash catcher is handy so I’ve been looking at those too but gotta settle on a rig first. You have any complaints with ball vaping in general?

It’s my favorite way to consume herbs.
I’ve owned the Vapor Cannon/Vapor Broz. original box vape and my buddy had a Volcano I got to try a few times. I cant speak for other ball vapes, but the Flowerpot is really easy to use and replenish the bowl.
If i had to gripe on the Flowerpot I chose, it’s the dabbing dish on the top. I though it would be rad but really it makes a mess of the balls. When I want to hit some hash, I just melt some on the top of my flower now.

Awesome! I can’t wait to get mine, hopefully they ship soon. We use a volcano now and I can’t see it replacing that completely. I used to use concentrates only but I live in a place now where high quality concentrates are hard to come by and I’m hoping the terps and rips are comparable. I really miss super fire terpy concentrates

i just learned what a ball vape was 
thats my bad. Kinda assumed it was for dabs not flower….
If you really cant find any 18mm, next best suggestion would be to find a 14mm with a minimalist perc like a honey comb, something with low resistance, and a 14 to 18mm ash catcher.

Switched over to vaping and ball vapes about half a year ago now such a superior way of partaking got a flowerpot b1 first then got a phase3 zx zirconia ceramic about a month ago can barely stand the taste of actual combustion now

I hadn’t heard of this phase3 set yet. Does the ceramic make a big difference? I know for dabbing there was really no difference taste wise between glass/quartz/ceramic just heat retention. Same idea here? Do you use just their bowls or the heater too?
