He might’ve been a controversial character in many ways but he is one of the old legends I got a chance to actually talk to, along with Shanti and a few others.

And during our few conversations he was nothing but pleasant and very, and I mean VERY knowledgeable.
I remember a conversation I had with him about spectrochromatography that was very enlightening. Basically was tryna find out if I could DIY my own test equipment for home out of old/obsolete lab parts from old labs that are being dissolved and the like.

Was an interesting convo to say the least and he gave sage advice in the end.

RIP Sam the Skunkman

He had made a few appearances on different shows recently. There are also some lives on todd mccormicks instagram with him

I know many people do consider him a rat, I
remember seeing here on OG some legal documents, indicating he was an informant or something

But things were very different in those days and many people just did what they had to in order to survive, of course that does not mean dimeing anyone out is OK, but it was a very different world at that time.

RIP Skunkman Sam !

The legal documents that came out actually gave everyone proof that it was in fact someone else who was the rat. Now I’m not saying he was perfect or that other stuff may not have happened but the one who ratted was Raymond Anthony Cogo.

Thanks for the clarification. Everything I read I didn’t fully know what to believe…

But I’m glad to know it was not him.

He certainly brought our industry so much, and will be missed greatly!

Sam had a huge impact in all our lives. Say what you want about him but he definitely was one of the original OG’s in the cannabis scene. He will be missed

Definitely, I was mistaken.

I wasn’t trying to talk bad about him just saying I was just very confused by those documents, which @Whatnow cleared up for me, I’m legitimately sorry if anyone thought I was being negative…

Jeez. Someone passes away, a person makes a RIP post, and instead of either saying something positive or just not saying anything at all, multiple people have to drop opinions on a person they’ve never met in-person or had actual dealings with. I sure hope a bunch of people, who don’t know you, don’t pop up right after you pass to share some negative opinions or things they’ve heard about you. What a fun place the internet is.

No doubt the man had lots of haters and lovers of his work. Unfortunately alive or dead your actions will determine how others feel about you. Tons of controversy on both sides, just look at icmag theres 1000s of pages on this subject. I dont know what to think both sides show evidence. I mean you cant act like this wont be talked about on news of his death.

But you cant say he wasn’t extremely controversial on all things. I advise others ro read all the literature on it and make your own mind up.
