Exactly, so if you’d like to say RIP, do it. If not, just don’t say anything and keep it moving. How hard is that to understand?
R.I.P., Jingles
In an era where bro-science was causing countless people to be harmed, Dave brought peer-reviewed white papers to the scene and demanded the same level of science from others.
Maybe bad mouthing the dead and a pioneer of the plant regardless of their choices isnt the way to go…
I lay awake a night sometimes wondering who will mourn me when i go and ill tell ya that its a pretty sad number compared to some… but knowing that regardless of who i am, its the memories and wisdom here that keep people thinking about me and im glad the community can come together and share memories of our “chopped down” (plant pun) users…
RiP to skunkman and thanks to everyone respectfully posting thoughts.
He wasnt perfect, but now hes gone and there is no reason to knife the mans memory in the back
Gotta realize too when your being accused of being an informant and or working for the man. Growers and mj enthusiasts are going to have very strong opinions and emotions. His death just brings it all back. Some may not remember this was a big issue on the forums way back. I dont have an opinion eitherway fwiw just explaining why some have high emotions
I knew some guys would take what I said and run with it that’s why I apologized and said I was mistaken, but that’s not enough for the internet jury apparently. @PatHealy
RIP. I will keep looking for more info about him. His name will be here long after my generation.
2 cents: Let people react how they will. Here’s a stab:
Here lies Sam. He was a neighbor to some dudes who threw some shit together and gave him seed. Sam shared the seed. Sam sold the seed. Sam grew some weed and made more seed to share. Sam had different stories about what the seed was, memory and intentions being fallible as they are, and was at times kinda sheisty, like most folks. But Sam could also be generous and egotistical and kind, like the weather, and he made a life in cannabis and liked him some skunk and he kept at it and his influence is probably at work right now in millions of gardens worldwide. He was a good ol boy and a not-so-good ol boy and that’s the measure of a life fully lived. RIP to the one of the pottiest of heads.
To me his most important work was creating Skunk #1 and preserving the Haze line. I know there’s questions about if he actually bred SK#1 but either way he got skunk and haze in everyone’s garden for almost 40 years now
Man, not exactly sure why this conversation is going sideways, but this is why I don’t do social media and all that nonsense, too many people think their average joe opinion means so much and it just doesn’t. Feelings don’t equate to facts, proven he wasn’t a “rat” but believe me, when shit hits the fan, it IS every man for themselves on a sinking boat. Play the tough guy role all you want; I’ve seen it firsthand with an old friend (big grow within a house his family lives in, POPPED twice)… that isn’t my coop/friend anymore. He was begging me for my script at the time to cover his BS, NOT this puppy. Anyway, beating a dead horse or pissing on someone’s grave for your personal feelings is out of line. PERIOD. Be mad, be glad, makes no difference to me… sometimes the truth hurts… or will set you FREE… BE Well. ![]()
RIP to ALL of our fallen soldiers who made all of this possible for future generations. Keep the Dream Alive. ![]()
Yesterday Dave Watson passed away.
He was affectionately known as Sam the skunk man.
His contributions to the Cannabis world are unmatched.
Moment of silence for one of the greats fellas.
Where did you pick up the News?
RIP Skunkman Sam.
Gypsy Nirvana used to give out Sam the Skunkman seeds as freebies. I grew his Skunk #1 x Haze about 20 years ago, definitely a nice strain.
Descanza en Paz, Sam. I am not a fan of skunk, although from time to time I will fall in love with the random eighth a friend my bring over. I love the Haze. So, thanks either way for your legendary contribution to our community. Lights and shadows, all of it.
RIP Skunkman Sam
I think you might be surprised how many strains have Skunk #1 in their ancestry somewhere. And there’s no telling how many strains are related to Sk#1 but it’s not known for sure.
Appreciate all his contributions to the community rest in peace
Ciao amico.
Cosa dire…ci mancherai
I would not be. I know. Perhaps I was too late to the party being born in 85’, but very few well grown skunks came around my parts and the ones that were good were not as good as I thought it would be. Im sure there are awesome cuts. This is why I have some nice repros of some around in seed form for the future.
