This stuff is brown developing on my roots. Is it beneficial bacteria from the southern AG garden friendly fungicide? I used 10ml for 20 gallons
Root rot
… I don’t like Southern AG . Can often times promote algae that can lead to root rot from smothering the roots. You should clean those roots and redo your resivor. Consider Hydroguard for beneficial they are different. Some guys have success pre diluting the Southern AG and using the duluted AG. They said it helps with the algae… Good Luck @Rgaaana
Edit- also make sure that you’re not adding anything that has any traces of organic’s. They never mix well with any sort of DWC.
Could it be hydroton dust? The balls are fresh
So sad
Smell it, is it like rotten eggs? Thats root rot if it does
it depends on what the water looks like… generally hydroton dust will go to the bottom it’s heavy. It could sit on the roots, but would easily come off. Algae and root rot on the other hand don’t shake right off it’s slimy and harder to remove from roots…. Double check your inputs for organics and make sure that you have blackout in your reservoir. Get rid of any light leaks… hopefully somebody that uses southern AG will chime in on their mixed ratios. Cheers
It doesn’t smell like rotten eggs, didn’t smell like anything. But I don’t have a great nose. Will smell again later when less high ![]()
It was very goopy but I was able to pull all of it off one root and it looks not rotten below. It’s like a thick gel with floaty brown bits in it
It’s algae smothering the roots that will lead to root rot quickly. Do your due diligence to remove everything from the roots clean the reservoir well. The problem is if you don’t correct the conditions it comes back quickly… if you can trace any light leaks into your reservoir, block them out with foil tape whatever is necessary. Make sure you’re not putting anything organic in. If you want you can run down what you’re adding. We can let you know if it’s got organics…
I’m running master blend mix, agsil and southern AG gff.
I do have a few light leaks. Damn. Well time to fix it
Thanks guys
Your nutrients should be safe… just make sure you’re adding your silica first. Then your master blend and then pH . Southern AG would go last in the resivor. Get rid of those light leaks and clean well. I think you can go down a little bit on your concentration, but I would wait for somebody else to chime in for their southern AG ratio. Cheers
I use 1ml for a 10 gallon reservoir and had no problems
Cheers @Jim I knew the ratio was quite low ![]()
Get ahead of this right now. Root rot was the downfall of my last grow.
I used 17 ml for my 20 gal ![]()
I’m pretty sure it’s a concentrate, unless there’s 2 different kinds. I actually stopped using it (no problems, I just don’t need anything extra in my res) but I think I just followed the directions on the bottle
Yeah, it’s super concentrated. It’s the brown yeasty stuff.
I found another suggestion of 1 ml per 20 gallons. So 1ml per 10 sounds right.
Whoops
