It wasn’t a matter of collecting the rosin, that was fine (actually, a little dribbled onto the kitchen counter, but whatever), I was just wondering if the temperature of the rosin itself at the time of combustion had anything to do with the way it smoked. That was something that I read whilst researching this, but again, it was conflicting info. Some of the things I read said DO let it hit room temperature, some of the things I read said,”Don’t let it reach room temperature.”
Can we change the title of this thread to “A Newbies Guide To Buying A Rosin Press, How To Press and How To Actually Smoke Said Rosin” please? Haha. Seriously, I’m not dumb, but I feel like an idiot asking all these questions.
Try changing pressing temps again and times too. As was siad…they all press differently.
To try and get yours drier…put the parchment and sappy rosin into a sealable jar. Then tape a discant pk to the lid of the jar and seal it for a day or two. The discant gel should absorb the xtra moisture.
This stuff was brand NEW to all of us! Not to worry…questions are a good thing. I must have asked hundreds of questions when I began pressing and dabbing.
Yes…I have dabbed frozen rosin with no trouble at all. Just have to be careful when trying to cut off a piece. They don’t call it shatter like for nothing…LOL
Yep, that’s the consistency. When trying to collect it, it just flakes everywhere and wastes a bit. Then when trying to break off a small piece for dabbing, the same thing. Sometimes it flies out of the jar and is never seen again.
Haha! Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. Still seems like shatter’d be the easiest to deal with. And some strains are just gonna never reach that consistency, correct? Like no matter what you do, it’ll never get “flaky” or whatever?
Wow… Okay… That’s super-interesting to me. So it seems like, once you find a plant that returns well and also presses to a consistency that’s agreeable or whatever, hang on to that plant haha!
How much weed did you use to fill those little jars up, @Buzzer777? Or are those jars even little? Fucking internet. Hard to tell how big those are.
Okay, that’s interesting, too. So it’d be worth it, if your goal is shatter, to make hash out of the larf/trim before pressing. Pretty sure I said this before, but one of the main reasons I even looked into this was to utilize the trim etc that I never turn into hash, even though I always say I’m gonna. It probably, it would be best to turn that into hash, first, then press it? Good to know.
sure, try the dry ice hash and press that. Try making some full melt and prssing that… press bud too. Its all slightly different. The more you press, the better your results.
I honestly don’t remember how much flower I pressed. I can say that my press has 4x7" plates and pressing 14 gr ams at once is no problem. With that said…the sweet spot for those plates is about 10-12 grams per press.
Another great thing about pressing is that reduction of flower bulk is exactly what I need.
Those “little” jars hold about 7 grams of rosin each…LOL
Okay, then it’s settled: I’ll turn my trim into hash first.
How do you make your hash, @BCC? The bucket and the bags? I like the way Holyangel makes his, with the sifting, but I dunno if I have enough to get a significant amount of sift.
I used to do buckets/bags, but it is too hard on my back. So now I use a tumbler and make dry sift. However, I don’t usually press my hash because I like smoking dry sift. I make most of my rosin from flower.
