I would absolutely refuse delivery on that!
Tell them someone dumped a broken box of random crap and they need to come pick it up.
If you accept it- you own it. (literally)
The original company need to send a replacement- because you still haven’t received the item you paid for.
You cal also call your credit card company and dispute the charge and get a refund that way if you want.
That sucks. I really want to see some pressing!
They might make good on it if you call and ask nicely.
If not, many credit cards also offer a warranty on your purchases and often they have a price match/30 day price guarantee.
Well that blows. Everywhere I looked, it said Dukytek was made in the US. The parts, the presses, everything. At this point, I’m over it. Already ordered the 7 ton press, supposed to get here Thursday, and I still have to return the Harbor Freight press and the plates that I originally ordered. Every instinct I had about pressing being a pain in the ass is bearing out haha! And I haven’t even pressed yet.
Still, I’m pretty stoked, looking forward to my press getting here. We’ll see how she does…
Interestingly enough, I just looked at Dulytech’s web site. It appears that they have new electronics! That was my main gripe.
I am not saying that they are bad…just that I liked Dabpress better. The CS from Dabpress is great and is done by US techs based in Colorado (last time I spoke with them). Dulytech was a one man operation by the owner Robert Smyth who was an engineer, but admittingly knew little about Cannabis. He sent me presses and other products to test out in return for knowledge about the plant and about rosin. When the bottle jack on the 7 ton leaked, he had to restock the jack from China as well as the electronics that burned. He obviously had little or no replacement stock on hand. Robert was always traveling back to to his jobbers in China from his home in NJ. I remember when I asked him why the 7 ton was being made with narrower plates than the original, he replied that he had changed suppliers. The 7 ton that I received came in the original imported shipping container and the plates were not even alighned properly. It was an easy task to realighn , but that should not have happened if the units were inspected after they arrived from China.
It is possible that he sold off the company to Rightbud, but that’s only my own speculation; SINCE WE HAVEN’T BEEN IN TOUCH IN A FEW YRS.
If I were to make an broad comparison, Dulytechs are beasts and do the job, while the Dabpress models are much more refined and imo do it better, with a polished rosin presser at the helm… BOTH WILL MAKE GREAT ROSIN. ENJOY YOUR PRESS!!!
yep - calling customer service to do a return today - from the looks of it FEDEX ‘lost’ a few parts and to the best of my thinking ‘tore’ open the nut-bolt bag and ‘lost’ a few of them as well. should be unbelievable but its not…
called the 800 # for a new shipment and FEDEX will take the other unit back no charge.
if you follow their online RMA - you will pay $38 dollars to ship…
Hahaha!!! What. The. Fuck? It actually looks more impressive (if that’s the right word) in the picture than it does in person. I was all ready for it to start oozing out the front of the press and shit, stood there ready to catch it and make sure it didn’t get on my kitchen counter and then was just like,“Uh… Is anything happening?” I seriously doubt if I even got a quarter of a gram return.
Now, granted, the weed I pressed is kind of old (put it in jars on April 15) and Silver Mountain wouldn’t ever be considered a “hash-making strain” or whatever, but still… Holy shit… The weed is definitely sticky. And real stony; I smoked a third of a joint of it the other day and got baked as fuck.
Pressed it at 185 degrees the first time (the results are in the above picture) and once I saw what I got back, raised the temperature to 200 degrees and pressed it agin. Results were about the same.
I dunno. First press, whatever. I’ll be harvesting my plants here over the course of the next two weeks or so and one of the strains, Time Bandit, should yield a lot better results, especially when it’s only a few weeks old.
Man, that press looks a lot smaller than the 20 ton I bought from Harbor Freight. Or maybe not, I dunno haha. That was the thing with that press I got (and returned): in addition to seeming really cheap it was fucking huge. And heavy.
Anyway, so I really wasn’t satisfied with the return on that Silver Mountain press and decided to grab this nug of Smart Move (Genius Thai x OMG), 7 grams on the nose, minus the stem:
Although it still doesn’t seem great, I can live with it haha. Pressed it a second time, but there was really nothing there worth bothering with. I’m definitely looking forward to harvesting some of the new plants soon, getting them dried and cured so I can press some fresh weed. That Smart Move was put in jars around the same time as the Silver Mountain (mid-April).
I had trouble getting the Silver Mountain rosin off of the parchment paper. I think I used just about all seven of the tools in the little Dulytek collector thing I got, but none of them really worked that well. It just seemed to move the rosin around the paper, but wouldn’t actually collect any. Thinking about using a butter knife or something for the Smart Move rosin, once it’s cooled off.
That’s not to bad for a first try! Seems like you got almost 20% return. You need to put it on a scale to find out for sure.
And for the 2nd pressing, I’d fold it in half (double thickness) before I pressed it.
Have you tried it yet?
That’s next on my list. I just got a little screen for dry sift, but the dry ice seems to give the best yields. That’s great for making edibles like I want to, but I’d need to clean it up before smoking it.
I just called my local grocery store and they have 10 pound blocks for $14, but he said he’s break it in half, or break off a smaller piece if I wanted. Gotta be easier than all that ice and water mess.
For sativa strains, I get 10-15% return. If the buds are dry or fairly old, subtract a few percent. Indica leaning strains have better returns in my experience. Have you smoke it yet?
Well scr*w you!
I just worked hard for a pinky nail size pile thru a 160.
But yeah, Dry Ice seems to be the best of both worlds.
What size mesh did you use? Just one bag? Chunks of ice in the bag?
I was thinking of putting the dry ice in one bag, and then setting that on top of the herb inside a 2nd bag. Hopefully just chilling the herb and not beating it up too bad.
But I can live with some plant matter in my edibles.
Break up the dry ice into ~1 inch chunks with a hammer or something. Pour all your material and dry ice chunks into the bag and wait a good 3-5min. Then start sifting it. You’ll get two-three minutes before it starts going green, that’s when you can stop as you’re pulverizing the plant matter at that point.
Scrape it all up with a card or something and do whatever with it. Press it, smoke it, decarb and cook with it. ^^
I am using the all mesh bubble bags. The regular one’s do work as well but the all mesh ones make it easier. I haven’t seen any dry ice specific bags before. It’s definitely more of a dry sift taste to me.
Yeah that would probably work fine if you didn’t have access to dry ice or bags. It’s hard to tell how big that is? But seems like he’s thinking along the same lines, get everything as cold as possible and shake it till it just starts turning green.
