Sawtooth Skunk increase and Freaky crosses

Today I declare the completion of my current project.

I have taken the Sawtooth Skunk from (@blu_channel) on Instagram and did an increase with three female STS (Sawtooth Skunk) and one male STS. I also had a Freakshow fem, Frosty’s Purple Freak fem and a Superior Freak auto fem in the tent. For anyone who does not know Sawtooth Skunk is a fern-like mutation strain that was isolated by Blu_channel. It has a different lineage than Freakshow and the other specimens in my tent. STS is at its fourth generation, making my seeds the fifth gen. Most people know of Freakshow by now, which is another fern-like mutant from Hi-Elevation Genetics ( @hielevationgenetics ). It was used to create the other specimens I am growing, These are Frosty;s Purple freak which is a stabilized cross of Berry Freak and Black Kush from Califrosty. The final specimen in my tent was Superior Freak auto from Crayos Genetics and is a cross of ‘SupaFreak’ x ‘Super Blueberry Haze Auto’. These are to be f2ed to isolate the fern mutation and automatic expression.
My objective is to hopefully make the first seeds from two similar mutant crosses with completely different lineages. This should produce a nearly constant expression of the fern mutation in the progeny and hopefully make some good smoke too, if all goes well.

Hell yea. Those are some freaky looking plants. I have always been intrigued by freakshow and ABC genetics. Never heard of the Sawtooth Skunk until just now. Definitely interesting.

That’s wicked cool never seen or heard of the mutation or strain you say everyone should know lol im super new to all online chatter lol but i love the looks of ferns so having a cannabis plant with that mutation would be badass

please stop in and share any freakshow hybrids you have made in the Freakshow hybrid thread
Its a thread I have been trying to develop for people breeding freakshow. So we can know what genes might be available to future freak crosses. Most people seem to be extremely secretive with freakshow so it has zero traction but, eventually maybe it will put some people together.

Thank you everyone here for the support.
I have been talking with Blu-channel and it looks like the male Sawtooth Skunk and one of the females was the f4 from an open pollination. Those seeds will be f5. The other two ladies were a back cross from a f2 that was BX to the original f1 mutant. Then I crossed them back to the f4 daddy. Those are f4s then, I believe. If anyone has any input on this, I would appreciate it. I’m trying to figure this out. Thank you guys for any help in advance.
Be well.

Hey @nick131740 Thanks for the kind words. I have had pretty good luck with Freakshow so far.
Where is the post of your Sawtooth Skunk grow. I would like to see it.
Be well.

F1/f1, f2, f3 and so on refer to the sequential generations of a line-breeding program. So an f4 can only be created by crossing two f3 siblings (originating from the same f2 parental-stock); and we should refer to a line created between a BX and IBL as a new segregating line altogether.

What we see done by several breeders, which I feel is a good approach, is to use V1, V2, V3 in conjunction with the applicable filial generation for that line if not keen on coming up with a whole new name to distinguish between segregating lines.

In this case, as these lines have now been worked by you, we can say that we are looking at TAO’s STSv2 & TAO’s STSf5, for example.

Also, I don’t think we can even call the “f5” an f5, being that we cannot ensure both f4s came from the same parent-stock if it was an open-pollination. We may just be looking at TAOs STS IBL (STS f4 x STS f4) & TAOs STS v2 ([STS F1 x STS f2] x STS f4)

Awesome @ciganomarola That is what I was trying to figure out. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
