Scenes from the Shitkicker Shed

Yup. Lights run overnight. I thought about heat mats but I would need about 45 of the ones I sprout on. Lol. I’ll elevate those wenches right away. Winter is over for the most part. I hope to do some work in the shed in the summer. Putting in a floor is #1 on the list!
Take care my friend and thanks again.

Ambient air temp, hot air rises so temps will be cooler the closer to the floor you go.

My previous setup I put in heated tiled floor.
You can pick up 12 x 12 tile for under a buck, you can buy a kit or you can go custom with wires.
I used a couple kits and they come in different sizes.
Radiant heat starts at the bottom and goes up.

That’s a really good idea. I’m thinking about building a shed soon and this is a really good idea for the winters

I’ve been growing in a shed for years. It’s got a triple layer plywood floor and the walls are insulated with foam sheeting and it stays relatively warm in there with my veg lights on constantly and my HPS light coming on at dusk with a fan blowing the warm air around. I also have a bunch of heating mats on the floor keeping the roots on the warmer side. The plants dig it!

I do have a heater for those really cold nights… and it’s got a little swamp cooler for the hot summer days.

Hey brother @GMan! I suspect you are a man that’s grown a tomato or two. I’m growing some in soft side containers this year. I was thinking 10-12 gallon containers. What do you think sir? Thanks bro. There is a brother that does a lot of vegetables and had a wealth of knowledge. My old stoned ass can’t recall who it is! Holler when you can.

I would use the soft pots if you can for the oxygen and better airflow which will keep the roots cooler. I don’t think you have to have the largest pot, but living where you are the 10 gal soft pot may be easier for keeping the roots cool.

That may not be as big an issue if you plant early, and you should down there, but I had a terrible time with heat in Midland the year I moved, but it was mostly pot in the dead pff summer. The roots got cooked. There are lots of hacks to make a protective air space around them to help.

So, that’s a consideration but, google up when to plant tomatoes in your zone. You’ll get a good harvest if you plant real early and then you can also get another crop in fall down there.

If you grow them in pots. put them next to a trellis, like the 4-6 inch square fencing, or something. Get the indeterminate varieties for the best harvest maybe. If you trellis them and support them they will grow as high as you want them to. Cherry tomatoes are great for that.

If you’re in blistering heat use some of that shade cloth and a local nursery may know which mesh to choose. They go by the % of light they eliminate, I think, or how much light they let in… 40, 60, 80, etc… It protects the plants from hail storms, too. I know you get them there, too.

Get a couple of heirloom indeterminate cherry tomato and you will be harvesting them every day. They produce an insane amount. I hope to be on it here this year. I had interruptions last year and never got a crop. I’m looking forward to doing better this year.

Purple Cherokee heirloom is so tasty It’s a full size and some people say are hard to grow but they did great for me here two years ago. If you have a favorite nursery near you they’ll help you with any fine tuning for your grow zone. Google is a pretty good friend when looking for zone info and specific info for veggies in your area.

Make sure you wear that Medic Alert necklace when smoking that CL in the AM… peace bro!

Yeah, one Mardi Gras in New Orleans is probably enough for a lifetime but it’s something if you’ve ever been. My dad used to live there for a while. And I have relatives in Mobile and I lived near there once also.

I got busted in a parking lot at a Mobile Mardi Gras by two undercover cops. I was blazing a joint by myself before I locked the car and headed to the parade… They only took the joint and didn’t find the rest and gave me a business card to call him in a week or two and let me go… I called once and left a message that I got the pot at a gas station and only lived there for a short while so I didn’t know anyone. Which was actually about 99% true. Plus I had smoke for the ride back home.
